I am looking for proof that Harriet Jane WOLF (28 Jun 1829-4 Jul 1910) who married George W. CRAIG (c1819-May 1864) is the daughter of Michael WOLF (c1806-19 Jan 1870) and Lucy Ann LaROSE. Also, I believe that Michael is the son of Antoine WOLF and he is the son of Michael WOLF (in AR Post 1791) and Mary Elizabeth ROLAND. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated.
looking for info for James & Mollie Harrison

I am looking for information on my wife's Great Grandparents. James (b. Jun 1866) and Mollie (or Millie)(b. Apr 1867) Harrison. They had three children that I know of Noah Wylie (b. Jan 20, 1890), William Fletcher (b. Jun 29, 1894), and Ruby Lee (b. Dec 16, 1899; d. July 29, 1969). Ruby Lee was married to James Matthew Reel. I have located them in the 1900 and 1910 census in Jefferson county. According to my wife's father, he believes Mollie Harrison was living with her son Noah in Humphrey in the late 30s. I assume James Harrison died between 1900 and 1910 since she was listed as a widow in the 1910 census. She is listed as Mollie Harrison in the 1900 census and Millie Harrison in the 1910 Census. Birthdates for James & Mollie Harrison are based 1900 Census.

My family tree stops dead with my grandfather, James Irving Seward. He was supposedly born in Arkansas in 1900, the youngest of several (perhaps nine) children, joined the Navy, got married and moved to Wyoming, etc. My grandmother said that he had sisters who had married and moved to Denver. I have his social security number and death certificate (which gives his parents' names as "unknown") but just can't turn up any connections for him. Would anyone out there have a lead or an idea about what to try next?

Am looking for an obituary for Ernest Clifford Bowman. In the 1930 census, he and family were in Vaugine Twp., Jefferson Co., AR, in the city of Pine Bluff. In the Arkansas Death Records, there is an Ernest C. Bowman listed in Arkansas County, died 13 May 1938. Since these two counties are next to each other, he may be the Ernest Bowman I am looking for. If anyone has access to these records, I would appreciate a look-up. Survivors may be his wife, Josephine Metty and daughters Lolo and Rosa. Also sons Clifford, Freddie and Louis.

Thank you,
Gene

I am trying to find information on an Ada McClain who is listed on the Arkansas Death Index as having died Feb 22, 1930 in Arkansas County Arkansas. My great aunt, was named Ada McClain. She is listed on the 1910 census living in Mississippi Co., AR with her mother, Mattie Rayburn McClain Scott, and her brother , Jesse McClain. They are all living with her older sister, Minnie B. McClain Westby. I can find no trace of Ada after that census. I just found this death listing. If anyone has any information about this Ada McClain I would appreciate hearing from them. I was told that she may have had a club foot and couldn't walk very well. She was born in Hardin Co., TN in 1890.
Thanks
Charlotte McClain Christesen

The Arkansas County cemetery book, I found in the DeWitt library, has a map of where all the cemeteries are located in the county. Morgan Settlement Cemetery is shown past Ethel on the southern end of Highway 17 after Cullpher Road. I am looking for the tombstone of John and Nancy Miller. He passed away on June 3,1936 near DeWitt, Arkansas. Any information and help will be appreciated very much. If obituaries could also be located for his two wives that would be great. They were; 1 Mary Ester (nee: Kennedy) Robertson who died in 1895 near DeWitt and 2 Lee Anna (nee: Willis or Cummings?) Robertson who died in 1923 in Arkansas County. They are all buried in the Bayou Meto Cemetery. Thank you for any help and information.
My records show that Oscar and Mary died in Arkansas, Arkansas in 1864. They Left 4 young boys who were raised by Mary Nobles relatives.
Relatives of these that I think lived in these county or close by are Ferdinand Montgomery, Leroy Montgomery, Benjamin Nobles, Leonard Nobles and Samuel Walker. I have wondered about Oscars and Marys deaths both in 1864, was this because of the civil war or was there an illness during this time. Any help would be appreciated.

Where are AR County Cemeteries?

I have a copy of the Arkansas County Cemetery Records book that was put together in the 1980's, but am not always able to locate the cemeteries listed (especially the small, "family plots"). There is a hand-drawn "map" of ARK County with dots for the locations of the cemeteries, but no towns, roads, rivers, etc appear on the "map". I propose a team of cemetery seekers to locate & record via GPS as many of these cemeteries as possible. Or has this already been done?

Ralph

I am looking for the date Picheloupe was killed in Stuttgart. Jesse L. Eason died August 8, 1930.

I am seeking information on Thomas QUIETT, b. May 22, 1829 in TN, and Nancy Ann BARKMAN, b. November 25, 1830 in AR. They were married in Arkansas Post, Arkansas County, on August 8, 1849. (Source: Arkansas County Marriage Records) They were living in Villepoint Township, Arkansas County in 1840. (Source: 1840 Arkansas Census) They had moved to Washington County by the time of the 1850 Census. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on either the QUIETT (sometimes spelled with one t, and sometimes mis-spelled as Quilt, Quist, Quiell, etc.) or BARKMAN families. One reference I have found states that the BARKMANs lived on Meto Bayou, but no other reference was made to the family. I hope someone out there can help me.

First let me thank Travis for his help. You helped me very much.
I am now searching for the grave of Flora Hightower who was murdered while living in Leslie, Arkansas. I would very much like to locate it to ensure it has been kept up. It is my fear that it may have been forgotten. Also I would like to find the grave of Ralph Henderson. I believe that no matter his troubles his grave should also be attended and kept up.
I hope someone will assist me in locating the graves.
Much Thanks,
Eric R.
Odenbaughs and Prices in Gillett

My great grandparents Joseph (b 1834 in PA) and Anice (b 1855 in Illinois) Price arrived in the Gillett area (Stanley Twp) in 1888, where they moved to a farm purchase with a warrant while in Illinois. Their daughter Kate Price (b 1885 in MO) married John Bert Odenbaugh (b 1882 in MO) in 1903 in Gillett. John Bert was the son of Benjamin Franklin Odenbaugh (b 1853 in PA) and Mary Alice Cooper Odenbaugh (b 1861 in MO), who had moved to Gillett from Kansas about 1900. The Odenbaughs had many children who married in the Gillett area. The Prices and Odenbaughs married Hardestys and Rockhardts in Gillett.

Joseph died in 1908 and is buried in the Gillett Cemetery along with 2 Hardesty grandchildren. Ben died in 1922 and is also buried in the Gillett Cemetery along with his daughter Katie O Rockhardt. (I saw all these graves when I visited there on December 28th, 2003). Anice moved to Colorado Springs where she died in 1916. I had been told that she was buried in Gillett, but could not find any trace of a grave for her there.

The Odenbaughs lost their farm just before the Depression started (about 1927?) and moved to Woodruff County, where Alice was buried. John Bert and Kate later died in Brinkley. Any information about any marriages or deaths would be appreciated.

Gerry Parchman
Trenton, NJ
WWII SAILOR-Hollice Beauford Henderson

I am looking for relatives of Hollice Beauford Henderson. He was a sailor during WWII and listed his hometown as Tichnor. He was aboard the sub, the USS GRUNION when it went missing in July 1942 while on its maiden voyage in the Aluetians. The families were not notifield for several months.

They were declared dead Aug 2, 1943. 70 men died aboard this submarine and until recently nothing was known concerning their fate.

Now a search to locate the sub is being conducted by the son's of Commander Mannert and I have joined the search for relatives of these sailors so we can share this exciting news...Any tips or leads will be greatly appreciated..Thank you

He was called "Pickles". He was small of stature and probably red headed as a younger man. I have heard that he was born around Clarendon, AR and in his last years he was taken to a nursing home in Clarendon. John

I guess we all have one, a black sheep person in the family, well mine is my great grandfather and finding info on him has been a headache. I just found him listed on the 1900 Point DeLuce, Ark AR, census as a widower (incorrect),but I know it's him because his brother lived in the same town and the brother has been easy to track. Anyway, my question is...I really think he probably died in Point DeLuce in 1917. Where would you suggest that I go to see if I can find a death certificate. Do they go back that far.
Thanks
