My great uncle Francis McGourty was born in 1890 in Arkansas. Not a clue as to where, other than his father was a coal miner. The family started out in New York when my great grandmother Agnes McGourty and three daughters (Mary, Rose, Agnes) arrived in 1889 - I'm assuming my great grandfather, Patrick, was there to meet her. By 1890 they were in Arkansas. In 1894 they were in Indian Territory Oklahoma because that's when their son Robert was born. By 1896 they were in Thurber, Texas where their son James and daughter Ellen were born. By the 1900 census, their daughter Agnes was no longer with them so I'm assuming she died somewhere along the way. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to track their travel, they may have gone from coal mine to coal mine or just found odd jobs.
