Hello. That is one of the most interesting stories I believe I have read.
The Melungeons were possibly descendants of the original Lost Colony from 1587 off of the east coast. If you read about the Lost Colony in North Carolina, that name is going to come up. There is a lot of interest in that right now.
I can suggest a good researcher per chance you are needing one.
