Surnames: Robertson, Jenkins
My husband is a descendant of William Jonah Robertson (Jonah W. Robertson?), son of Eliza Jenkins and Thomas Robertson, born in Carrollton, Arkansas between 1880 and 1890, most probably born around 1 Sept 1886.
Jonah was evasive while he was alive, and some members of the family believe he lied outright about his age and origins.

I am looking for any information pertaining to Eliza J. Jenkins, born abt 1859 Illinois, daughter of Joseph Alexander Jenkins and Susan A (Atterberry?). Per 1880 census, she is age 21 and living in Carrollton, Carroll County, AR with her father, a stepmother named Tennessee Jenkins, and several other children of her father.
We are trying to discover what happened to Eliza - death, madness, marriage to another party... whatever. Family legend indicates she died in childbirth with twins, but nothing definate is known.

It is believed she either married or become involved with a neighbor, Thomas Jefferson Robertson, born about 1855 Monroe County Mississippi, age 25, widowed with a 6-year-old boy named Ambrose and a 4-month-old boy named Thomas F. They were also living in Carrollton, Carroll County, AR in 1880.

It is rumored that Eliza had 3 children with Robertson named Charlie, William ??, and Jonah William, during the period between 1880 and 1888.

Also - Looking for indications or evidence of the whereabouts of William Jonah Robertson between 1887 and 1910. Regardless of Jonah's claims to be from Texas, the family believes he was in Carroll County, Madison County, or Washington County Arkansas in between 1888 and 1906, but cannot find him. He and his family were engaged in carpentry and general construction trades.

Jonah was at Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1905-1906, where he met his wife Mamie D. Scoles in the summer of 1906.
He was at Webb City, Missouri about 1907-1908, where his eldest daughter Ella May Robertson was born 20 May 1907.
He was at Trinidad, Colorado in 1908 to about 1910, where his second daughter Edith Irene Robertson was born 1 Nov 1909.
He moved to Kansas during 1910 and settled at Hutchinson.

He is listed at age 32 with a birth place in Arkansas on the 1920 Reno County KS census, taken January 15, 1920.

However, 10-1/2 years later, on April 7, 1930 when the census was taken again in the same locality, he was only 8 years older - 40 - and said he was from Texas.

His known family includes Thomas Robertson, father; Eliza Jenkins, mother (info found on his social security application); Ambrose Henry Robertson, half brother born in 1874; Thomas Fletcher Robertson, half brother born in 1880 (info found on Arkansas 1880 census); Charlie Robertson, suspected older brother; William ?? Robertson; suspected twin brother (family stories); and 7 half siblings from a later marriage of his father.
