Looking for information on Deputy Sheriff Frank Jordan, who apparently killed a man in the former mining town of Sonora, Arizona. Not exactly sure of the dates, but probably between 1945-1955 - Í´ve been told it made the front page of the Arizona newspapers, but have come up empty - appreciate any help!

I am trying to find information on the 1880 census for Pinal County. Listed are the following Turners in Florence;
Smith Turner, Lucinda Turner, Dolores Turner, Boler Turner and Lucadia Turner. This is only an index. Does anyone have access to the actual census? Or do these names look familiar? My great grandfather was Smith Turner and he married a Lucinda Ramirez in 1874. He married a Seferina (Solferina) Lamadrid in 1873 and she died the following day. There is also a listing in the Western States Marriages for a Lucinda Turner marrying a J.M. Romero in 1894 in Pinal County. I would really appreciate any help someone could give me. BELOVED PIONEER PASSES AWAY

LONG AND USEFUL LIFE CLOSES AFTER CREDIBLE CAREER

In the passing of W. T. Day Tuesday morning at the family residence, Casa Grande, AZ, loses another of her old pioneers.

His son, Darby A. Day had just returned on Monday, and Mrs. Day and the two sons, Darby A. and W. T. Day Jr., were at his side when the end came at 10 a.m. November 23. Distance kept away the only daughter, Mabel Ludwig, who resides in Leechburg, PA.

Mr. Day had been ill for some weeks and the end approached gradually. The funeral was held from the family residence, conducted by Rev. N. R. Curtis of the Presbyterian church assisted by Rev. A. S. Baillie of the Christian church.

The Masonic Lodge had charge of the burial services at the grave. Mr. Day was born at Front Royal, VA, February 1840. He was a Civil War veteran and captain in the IL Infantry. He taught school in early life and after the war pioneered in the west. He married in 1874 and came to AZ in 1883, where in 1891 and 1892 he served in the State Legislature.

Mr. Day was a man of many letters of liberal education and judicial mind, of kindly heart and generous nature.

In the early days he took the place of both physician and preacher, ministering to both the sick and the dying.

Mr. Day was a leader among men and a champion of the poor, adhering to the principle of the Golden Rule.

For 60 years he was a Mason of good standing and loyalty, continuing in good standing in the lodge into which he was first inducted. Mr. Day loved AZ as his own and was beloved by all men. The sympathy of many friends goes out to the bereft family.

biography notes provided by the Weaver family descendants:

Day moved west and tried mining and trading in UT, CO, MN, NM, and finally AZ. In 1883 he was superintendent of the Vekol Mine southwest of Casa Grande, AZ. In 1886, Rosalie and their 3 children moved there to join him.

In 1889, Day bought a small adobe house in Casa Grande, AZ, so that he could then run for the State Legislature. The family used this house to stay in whenever they visited town. He served for 1 session in 1891-1892 but "refused to engage in politics after that. He was glad to get back, he said, and trade with honest people--Indians."

While the family lived and operated a trading post at the Vekol Mine, it was said that one afternoon Rosalie was visited by the sudden appearance of an Apache Indian, who she immediately chased away. Later she was told that her visitor had been a friend named Geronimo.

In the late 1890s, Day left the Vekol Mine and started a trading post and assay office in Quijotoa, where he taught farming, provided medical care, and was a tribal judge for today's Tohono O'Odham Nation of the Papagos. He moved the family to Quijotoa in 1895.

Per the 1910 federal census, Day was living at the mining town of Silverbell in Pima County, AZ, northwest of Tucson.

In 1914, Day moved his family permanently to Casa Grande and enlarged their small adobe house. It is located on First Street at the corner of Sacaton Street. There he died.

Both Day and his wife Rosalie were buried in the Weaver's family cemetery, which is located on S. Peart Road in Casa Grande, AZ.

In the 1930's and early 1940's my Dad Lester Tubbs lived in Casa Grande. His closest neighbors were the Hammack Family. While going through some old pictures we came across a beautiful picture of the Family and it brought back a lot of memories for my Dad. Joe's wife was Blanche. Does anyone know of this family. My Grandfather Fred Tubbs passed away in 1942 and Grandmother moved the family to California so Dad never saw the Hammack family again. I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Pinal County, Arizona as his home of record.

Born: 1931
Date of loss: June 29, 1952

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 22 families in Arizona that have not been located. There is one family from Pinal County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

My grandfather and Uncle were killed in an auto accident near Eloy, Az. in January 1943.
My Uncle, Albert W. Anderson left an 18 year old pregnant wife. After his death she went back to her family( probably Ok. or Az.) and my grandmother and her children moved on also. They lost all contact and my family never knew what became of her or the child.
I know her name was Irene Anderson (maiden name unknown)born about 1924.

I am looking for any information anyone may have about (William) Bill Lee Arneson (DOB presumed to be in the early 1960s, his birthplace is unknown) He had a romance with Lorie Ann Hardman (DOB 22 Jan 1962) of Gooding, Idaho. After the romance, Bill left. Lorie gave up a daughter for adoption at birth in Jerome to a family living in Twin Falls. Months later, when Bill was found in Arizona, he denied paternity which delayed the adoption by about 6 months. We know nothing about his family, but hope to find information about them and perhaps have contact if it is wished. (We suspect that he may have had a daughter with another woman. The girl's name would be Marty Kay Arneson, and after a custody battle, he abducted her around 1996, when she was about 6 years. They were last seen South of Phoenix. Ernest Harris-Bessie Rusk family

Bessie (Rusk) and Ernest T. Harris moved from Missouri to Texas and then to New Mexico where they had a daughter in 1911. The daughter was also named Bessie and she is who I am descended from. While the daughter Bessie was very young, they moved to Oklahoma and lived there for a few years before settling in Arizona.

Their daughter Bessie married Clinton Dill in Oklahoma and they lived and raised their family there.

Ernest and Bessie had several other children. The names I have are Nora, Owen, Effie, Donald, Daniel, Roy, Ruth, and Rachel.

Bessie (Rusk) Harris was born May 18, 1887 in Missouri and died October 26, 1954 in Pinal General Hospital, Arizona. She was the daughter of David Rusk who came to the US from Scotland in the mid-1800's. Her husband, Ernest, lived into the early 1970's, I believe.

I have lots of information from Ernest and Bessie forward but not much from the generations that came before them. I would be happy to share or exchange information with anyone researching this same family.

Yes he would have been born around 1930. I don't know of a middle name but my grandfather used his mothers last name as his middle name. It is Escarcega but he didn't know how to spell it and it may have been spelled with an Ascarrega. He lived in Florence. His parents names are Jose Maria and Narcisa Gonzales and to my knowledge it has always been spelled with a "s" on the end.
Thanks I havn't been able to find it. I talked to an Aunt last night and she said it was only a few weeks ago.

I was told my grandpa, Noah Allen Hawkins, died in Eloy, Arizona in 1953 (might have been '52). Dad used to say he wanted to go to Arizona at the time but was unble.

Noah was born in Texas @ 1877, had a family in Oklahoma, but the family split up about the time of the Dust Bowl, mid/late 1930s I think but am really not certain about that. We were told he died in Eloy, Arizona 1953. Dad said someone in Arizona contacted his Oklahoma family but I know very little more about him. Dad always regretted not having any family member there at the time.

Would like to locate Evelyn (Evie) Diane Isaacson, born in Casa Grande AZ to Eddy and Deborah Isaacson--My Waddle family in Casa Grande knew this family in late 1950s--when I joined the WAC in Aug 1958, I lost touch with Eddy and Debby--I found on Internet, today, that they both died in 1984. I know that some people there were buried in "New Con Cemetery" according to death records online. What does "Con" mean? I believe it is now called the Ray Memorial Cemetery near Kearny. He married Birdie R. about 1900 and had Mary A. 1904, William C. 1907, Graddy 1908. On the 1930 census Graddy had a wife Vernita and son Roy Louis. Mary A. is no longer in the home, May be married.

Looking for any info any one might have on the families of Allen and Wall in Superior, AZ. Moved to Superior from S.D. approx 1920's.
Names are Charles Edgar (Ed) and Martha (Mattie) Allen.
Ed died Nov 16th, 1947, is buried in Superior. Martha died 1946, in car accident in Ca but is buried in Superior.
Other names are Travis Wall, Ollie Wall, Hester Wall. All living in Superior at the same time as Allen's. These are Martha's brothers, and mother.
Ed worked at Magma Copper mine all his time in Superior.
