Hi Lois,
I researched Scott and hope this sheds some light on his life.

In 1880 he and his family were living in Burning Springs, Wirt, West Virginia.
Fish, Margaret, b. OH, 52, keeping house.
William Fish, b. OH, 24, laborer.
Helen Fish, b. OH, 19.
Jerry Fish, b. WV, 14.
Pansy, b. WV, 9.
Aggie Park, dau, b. OH, 29, visiting.
Denny Park, grandson, b. PA, 6.
Scott Park, grandson, b. PA, 3 who coincidentally had measles when the Census was taken.

In 1900 the Parke family was living in Aspen, Pitkin, Colorado.
Andrew Parke, b. WV Nov 1842, marr 27 yrs, engineer stationary.
Agnes, wife, b. OH Oct 1850, had given birth to five children but only four alive in 1900.
Clara, b. CO, July 1885.
Albert, b. CO, Dec 1889.
Scott, b. PA April 1877, single, miner of ores

In 1910 Scott and Mary were living in Skagway.

They could have married in Washington, where Mary was born but rather doubtful. I looked that up in the Washington State Digital Archives and didn't find their marriage info using all three variations of the Park surname. However, all of the marriage info has not been loaded into this database.

They could have been married in Aspen, CO or Skagway. I don't have any sources for Aspen. You can contact the Skagway Clerk's office at 907-269-8899 about marriage records.

It's interesting that on the WWI record, he put down as his nearest relative as his father instead of Mary. Maybe they were divorced or Mary had died by then.

In 1930 Scott and his mother were living in Aspen, Pitkin, CO.
Agnes F. Park, head household, b. OH, 80, widow.
Scott, son, b. PA, 53, miner silver mine.

I'll look again for his and his mother's death info so hopefully you can find obituaries for them.

I did find a Mary L. Parks
Born: abt. 1886
Died: 5 Jan 1949, Vancouver, Lewis, WA per death cert #96.
Source: Washington Death Index 1940-96.

There is an obituary volunteer in Clark Co. at freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~obitl/volwa.html .

I searched Ancestry and FamilySearch but didn't find death info for Scott or his mother Agnes. Successful Searching!

My records show (A1) Elijah Pullin b. ca. 1750-1755 in Prince George Co., VA and later moved to Wilkes Co. GA. I show 3 brothers as Major, Joseph and William. This Elijah would have been my great great great grandfather. His son, Elijah Pullin b. 4 Dec. 1778 d. 19 Aug. 1834 in Henry C0. GA was married to Rebecca Slack. Their son, Peter Wilson Pullin, my great grandfather,b. 1804 d. 1876 was married ca. 1837 to Susan A. Edwards, daughter of William Edwards and his wife Susannah Wynne. My grandfather, Timothy Pullin, son of Peter Wilson Pullin, was born 19 Jan. 1855 d. 11 Nov.1912 married Elizabeth Collins. They moved from GA to Limestone County, TX and later to Navarro Co., TX near Dawson where my father Barry Miller Pullin was born the 9th child of 10.

I will be interested to hear if any of this rings a bell with you.

Linda

I am so sure that Elijah was a brother to Joseph,Major, and Thomas, who is my g.g.g.grandfather. The naming patterns make it difficult to organize a family as they all repeated the same names. Also, the spelling was different in many cases as they spelled it like it sounded or the way it was heard. Cenusus takers couldn't write well either which doesn't help with research. I have been working on this for 10 years and still have gaps. Joseph, Sr. is as far as I can prove but feel sure because of the birthdates they are all related to Elisha and Anna Richardson Pullin. My Harriet Lovenia Pullen was a sister to my grandmother, Lettie Martelia Pullen b. 1884 who married George Prance. Henry Joseph and Barbara Mabry moved to Al and the family has lived in that area since then. If any of this sounds familiar, let me know and I will post it for you to see. Thanks for your response and I look forrward to sharing.

I am from the GA Pullin line also. My great great grandfather was Elijah Pullin, his son Peter Wilson was my great grandfather, Peter W.'s son Timothy Pullin was my grandfather, and his son Barry Miller Pullin was my father. My relatives still live in Henry County around McDonough. Elijah came to Henry Co. from Wilkes Co. in the very early 1800's.

Initially Zenjiro lived with an American family and later married Lena Worth. He owned Totem Jewelry store. Beberok has not responded to my post. I am wondering if you ever heard from him. I would be also be interested in the passport information. I did find Truman Ikuta's passport application that he made from US Embassy in Tokyo.
Hi,
In 1900 William King, his wife May, and daughter Helen were living in Skagway, SkagwayYakutat Co. AK. I can't find the family anywhere in 1910, but by 1920 they were in Seattle WA, and had 2 more children, Robert William, b. 1900 & Margaret b. abt. 1903, both in Alaska. I know by Robert's WWI Registration that his exact birth was 1900 Sep 03.
One thing I'm really looking for is the mother's maiden name, and am hoping if someone could find the birth record for Robert or Margaret, the maiden name might be given.
Does anyone have access to birth records for Skagway, and would they be willing to take a look when they have time & see what can be found?

I would greatly appreciate any help on this!
Thanks so much,
Judy King
I am trying to find a death record for the husband of Katherine Barry who came to Skagway, Alaska around 1900. She is on the 1900 census record in Skagway with her children and no husband. His name is Richard Barry and the family is in Washington Territory in the early and mid 1890's.

Would anyone be familiar with this family? Her daughter Mary, is my husband's grandmother. There were other children, including Edward, Richard and James.

I am trying to find the name of Charles Peterson's mother. He came to Skagway from Sweden in the early 1900's and married Mary Bernhofer. He operated CP Kitchen. I am wondering if there might be some records in Skagway that could offer that information - I have tried a marriage record from Juneau and was told they did not have a record. They married in 1903 in St. Mark's Catholic Church.
Charles is my husband's grandfather and my husband was born in Skagway.

Risdon M. O'Dell is buried in the Sitka National Cemetery along with his wife Matilda (Crum)O'Dell (1851 - 1938). Pvt Risdon was a Civil War Veteran. His Regiment was CO G., 78TH ILL INF. He served 1862 to 1865. The l880 census showed that they lived in Forrest, Livingston Co., Illinois. This is the last record I could find until the 1910 census. The 1910 census shows they lived in Skagway, Division 1 Alaska. If anyone has any information on Risdon and Matilda O'Dell, please contact me. Thank you.

Hello ! I was just checking old postings, and came across yours of 11/29/2007. Yes, I know about Ysoult, and Gurden Joseph Farwell. It sounds as if you must live in Skagway. Is there a historical society there? Would love to know anything about Ysoult, Gurden, Bill, and Pat when they lived there. If you know any of the old stories I would love to hear them! Look forward to hearing from you, Kim Farwell Forsman at kforsman@tcsn.net
Hello, although I am a painter in Skagway, I think that the person you are referring to is either Barbara Kalen, who is the granddaughter of goldrushers and still works in the family store here year-round, Dedmans. She painted many oil paintings especially aurora scenes for many decades.
Another woman who painted many paintings of cabins and mountains is Bea Lingle, I'm not sure if she is still around, but the Skagway Hardware store would be able to direct you (they own that).
One other famous local artist is Pete Lucchetti, but he has been painting only the last 15-20 years or so and does large people pictures. Good luck in your search.

He liked to tell lots of stories about Martin Itjen in the 1930's.
I found among family papers a newspaper clipping about President Harding visiting Harriet Pullen at her hotel in 1923. I don't know if I am related to her. My father was Wilmarth Stockton Pullen (born approx. 1915); his parents were Louis S. Pullen and Hazel Woodman; and Clark Stockton Pullen (born 12/25/1861 in Trenton, NJ - son of Stockton and Adeline (Pullen) Pullen) and Annie M. Grinnell (born in Peacedale, RI, daughter of Nicholas and Maria (Kenyon) Grinnell) were Louis's parents. There were/are relations in Attleboro, MA (Charles C. Pullen - brother of Louis S.).

I lived in Skagway for five and a half years and am curious about the female artist there. I have no idea who you are referring to and when the work was done. I know there were people doing artwork for businesses

Kebeth, the Aleut

I am looking for other sources concerning a relative who was murdered by KEBETH, an Aleut in 1899, near Skagway. I understand that President McKinley was petitioned to save the murderer from death. My relative, BERT HORTON and his new bride, FLORENCE OLIVER HORTON were the victims of this awful event in October 1899 . Because of the circumstances, I would assume it might be almost legendery in the Skagway area. I have a seven page version that was given to me that appeared in a magazine in the U.S.. I would like to locate other versions if available from other people or news sources. Any help would be appreciated.
S.S. Princess Sophia 1918

I am looking for information regarding RECOVERY of the bodies of passengers aboard the CPR S.S. Princess Sophia that sank in Alaskan waters. All 300 passengers perished.

My grandfather was aboard the ship. He was a marine engineer employed by the White Pass and Yukon Route.

There were two recovery stages:

1. Oct.-Nov. 1918
Abt. 180 bodies were recovered, identified and shipped to relatives. My grandfather's body was not among them

2. Spring - august 1919
Abt. 105 bodies were recovered. Is there a list of these bodies recovered? If most of the bodies were unrecognizeable - was there a mass grave?

Would appreciate any information / suggestions you may have.

Thanks

Dawn Samson
