I'm looking for information about the Woody Island Baptist Orphanage in the early 1900's. It may be listed as Kodiak Wood Island District. It seems that my great grandpa, Ioann Bern (b. 1898), AKA. "John Henry" Bern and his sisters Khristina(b. 1901) and Anna(b. 1902)were sent there around 1906-1910 after their mother, Paraskeva Ivanova Petrova Bern (Derenov) died in 1906. The Afognak Russian Church confession listings confirm this, stating the children as "absent" from the island around 1910. They were originally from Afognak Island and their mother's line carries the surname Derenov. I would like to find information on when they arrived at the orphanage and if all three were sent to the same place. Anything helps, thank you.
