Hi, this may seem a little weird: Does anyone know of William Allan (or Bill, I guess), one of Marjorie's sons? My name is Jared Lee Busby; Bill is actually my father. He was married for a short time to my mother, Linda, from 1979 to 1981.

I've never spoken with him before; my mother and I moved to Oklahoma when I was less than a year old, but I am interested in finding out more about my Busby family: siblings, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc. I would, of course, be interested in finding out his situation as well.

I was sorry to hear about Marjorie's passing. My mom has always shared her extremely fond memories of her. I did a cursory search for Bill in 2007 before being getting stationed in Germany, when I found her obituary. I was sorry not to have known her.

Anyway, any info would be great....especially any surprise medical/baldness issues I can expect. Thanks!

You might check the Sheldon Museum (www.sheldonmuseum.org) for more information. The book mentioned is for sale at the museum store.

Did you know that the Chilkat Valley Historical Society is currently refurbishing Charlie's cabin to preserve it and the grounds. You can find out more about that at the museum site, too.
I have been stumped on trying to find information on ELEANOR HAINES(1724-1764). Connecticut records (Barbour) indicate her parents were Jonathan and Sara. She married PAINE TURNER. I cannot find THE Jonathan Haines or Haynes that is her father. Does her name ring a bell to you?

Can anyone help?

Hi Susan,
You must be Michael's wife. Robert Lee Busby, Sr. was younger brother of my grandmother, Margaret Agnes Busby Bass. She was the eldest child and only girl in the family. She had 6 younger brothers as well as 2 infants who died at birth.
I just read your post regarding the Busby family from Haines, Alaska. I am married to one of the five boys you mentioned. Yes, Robert Lee Busby is buried in the Jones Point Cemetery. Unfortunately, his grave does not have a marker. One was purchased but it was never installed. His wife, Marjorie Anne Shepard Busby, was cremated and her ashes have yet to be scattered.
Please tell me what your relationship is to this family.

Susan

I believe Robert Lee Busby lived in Haines and died there on 2 Mar 1990. He is buried in the Jones Point Cemetery. His wife was Marjorie Anne Shepard Busby who died in Haines on 17 October 2006. I would like to know if she is also buried in the Jones Point Cemetery. Would anyone be willing to take a photograph of their gravesites to post on Find-a-Grave? And does anyone know how to find obituaries for them? Also, I would like to get in touch with their children [I believe they had five sons].
Thank you,
Mary

Lancaster Cemetery east of Freeport, IL. Very old, not in good condition. Found this tombstone. May be Elizabeth McGee Haines. Will try to get a better photo. There is a broken stone marked Haines with military marker also. This cemetery is in very bad shape--a lot of stones face down in the ground, broken, etc. Found one tombstone that read "died at Shiloh." What a shame. Again, will try to get a better photo but I believe this is Elizabeth Haines.

I found Jacob Sherk there also. I am researching Weiler and Sherk (Henry Weiler married Sophia Sherk Stephenson County IL).

Pam Wiler

Hello again, another thought is that your Annie Thompson may be Clara Annie Thompson who was born January 1, 1860 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She married Moulton there and had at least two boys. At the time of the Gold Rush she left her family and went to the Klondike. I think she married John Cameron in Dawson in 1898, he was a RCMP. She left Yukon Sept 24, 1904 to go to Rexford Hotel, Boston MA as Mrs. J.A. Cameron. She returned to Skagway and she died July 21, 1908 of a pelic abcess and is buried in the Gold Rush Cemetery with a large stone marker. We have no record of her husband Cameron, but there is a marker for a Cameron that died October 1898. It is possible that this Annie Thompson is the same and that she married Mr. Perkins also, not sure if it was before or after Cameron.
When she died, her family in Battle Creek, Michigan chose not to bring her body back, but her son buried her here and was the one to presumably erect the big stone marker. If this is the same person, you may have other relatives as they have a family website that I got some of the information from. Good luck in your research and please keep us posted.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. All I know of my line is that it was usually "spelled" Rypinski by my family. My great-grandfather's name was Heyman, born 6 Jul 1850; his father Moritz Rypinski born 1822 in Torun, Poland (Thorn, Germany). Moritz died in 1869. Married Henrietta Hellman, born 20 Jan 1826.
Family story goes Moritz and Henrietta had a large hostelry business and raised cavalry horses for the army. Heyman became a United States citizen supposedly on 22 Mar 1875. Heyman's brother Louis Rypinski also was in Texas. Believe his brother Hermann may have been 2st in Texas and then a jeweler in New York.
Some info kept in synagogue - Gemeinde of Breslau, Germany, Diary 2226/32 of the Breslau Records. (Not sure how to obtain copies--any suggestions? )
I believe the records of them coming to America may have been destroyed by hurricane in 1900's in Galveston, Texas. Not certain of this.
Not experienced researching outside of the United States at this point. To date, I have been gathering what I can in America.
Carol
Haines, Robert

I am searching for information on my g grandparents, Robert (F?) Haines and Mary McNeil Haines. They lived in Nebraska, and that is where their three children were born: James H. b. 1889, John F. b. 1894 and my grandmother, Mary M. b.1893. My grandmother's given name was Minota (sp) but she took the name Mary Minota. Her father said it was an Indian name. Robert moved from Berwin (Berwyn), Custer County, NE to Leads S.D. and worked in the mines. My ggrandmother, Mary McNeil Haines died about 1902 from appendicitis. I know Mary and Robert Haines are buried in Spearfish S.D. but I don't have much information on their parents. I have heard that Robert ran away from home when he was 12. That is all I know about him. I think Mary McNeil Haines' father may have been Patrick McNeil. Her mother possibly Mary also. (notes from my aunt: Mary McNeil's parents: Mother also Mary ? (Prina or Pryna (sp)? was French Canadian, Quebec, her father James McNeil was wounded in the heel, and he was killed in the Civil War).
My grandmother seemed to think her mother, Mary McNeil Haines was born in OH. Her bothers said IA. Robert's possible birthplace being PA or IA. (according to what they listed on census records). After Mary McNeil Haines died, my grandmother was placed in homes of relatives to help with work and child care. I believe she lived in Omaha, NE, and probably other places as well. I think the boys stayed with their father. As adults, James and John lived in Washington State, and my grandmother, Mary M. Ross lived in Idaho.
Any help would be appreciated on Robert and Mary (McNeil) Haines and their ancestors.

Hello, Our records show 5 Perkins in Skagwayat the turn of the century: Arthur from Victoria, born 1866 in Canada a miner; Frank a cattle raiser born 1862 in California but came from Dallas; George who came in 1911 with a NYC musical company and fell from a glacier but was OK; John A. a private in the 24th Infantry from Buckingham County, VA (he was black); William T. who was a member of the Arctic Brotherhood in 1903.
There is no record of Annie Cecilia Thompson, but if she was Tlingit, many were not recorded in the censuses, or she may have had another name. If you have other information on Skagway people please share it with us, we are trying to compile a database of Skagway people at the turn of the century. Also, do you have the date of the Perkins marriage in Skagway?

Carol, Just came across your message board from 2004. Probably best if you reply directly to my e-mail address. Sol Ripinsky and family always used the "y". Not a single first name sounds familiar so I doubt any connection with Solomon. Have traced Sol and his brothers throughout the U.S. and would be happy to share the info. Also have a homemade CD on Sol and his siblings which I presented in Haines almost 2 years ago. Would be happy to send you a copy. Regards, Eric
