Vernita briefly married Elmer McLaughlin abt 1940 in Nebraska. She gave their baby up for adoption. She left Elmer and went to California/Oregon area and hung around her aunts and uncles there for a while. No one knows when she left or why.

I just located an address for her on a family will. In June of 1960 (two weeks before her death) her grandfather died. Vernita is listed in his probate papers as living at 402 Lane Street, Mt View (Anchorage) Alaska. This record makes me think Vernita may have died in 1961, as my grandmother recorded.

I wouldn't expect to find any relative in Alaska.

I have contacted all my relatives that are living and they have no more information about Vernita.
