My Dad worked in Naknek, Alaska in 1948 at a fish cannery. I have a photo of him and 10 guys that he worked with. My brother and I were born in Seattle and he worked in Naknek at the time my brother was born.
Pop looks like one of the younger guys in the photo. I would really like info on life in Naknek in 1948 and where he might have worked. Am happy to forward the photo to anyone interested.

I did get responses and no one knew who they were. I have to tell you that they did not look like the type of people from that area. Can you tell me in what capacity were they in Naknek? Maybe we can get you a lead to the type of work they were involved in. Inez

Inez,
My Pop, Matt Sause, (who is sitting in front of the group) had been living in Seattle since the early 1940's, married in July 1947 and was working in Naknek, Alaska about the time that my brother was born in Seattle in June 1948. I assume it was where a job was offered to him. Pop said it was a fish cannery and they ate fish 3 times a day, (and throughout the rest of his life, he did not eat fish). I don't think he worked there very long, as he was in Seattle by the fall of 1948. We were hoping that someone recognized persons in the group and could tell us more. Pop passed away in 2000, at age 89.
Thank you for your help. Did you post the photo on a rootsweb site?

No, sent it to all the Alaskan people I knew from that area. Some old, some young. Nobody recognized anyone. Was about 7 people. Inez

Got to see my Aunt from Wisconsin for the 1st time in 25 years. She mentioned her Dad, my grandfather had gone to Alaska in the mid 1930's to a town called Neknek. Could not fin it but Nacnek is probably right Let me know if the surname is anywhere ( Dussault ) and the picture and we might be able to get some more people with bits of info to help. Thanks, Alex Dussault
