I don't know much about this side of the family--just that Mary Jane Lieb was born on May 11, 1906 and her home village was Point Hope. If you have any information, please post or contact me. Carole M. Madison died in her Woodland home Monday, July 28, 2003, at age 56.

Born Oct. 22, 1946, in Point Hope, Alaska, Mrs. Madison had been a Yolo County resident for two years.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Randy Madison; children, Linda Smith of Kent, Wash., Charlene Madison of Auburn, Wash., Larry Madison of Spokane, Wash., and Randi Madison of Anchorage, Alaska.; mother, Madeline Carl of Anchorage, and sister, Cathy Lilly of Portland, Ore.

The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis 95617. Arrangements are under the direction of North Sacramento Funeral Home.

Services: A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at The Church of the Resurrection, 15319 E. 8th Ave., Spokane, Wash.

i'm looking for ancestors in the north slope borough villages. my ggrandmother, attouluk and marx lieb, a whaler, had several children...annie, carlos, piele and my grandmother mary (born in jabbertown). any idea on attouluk's family? did natives have last names at the turn of the 20th century? my grandmother mary lieb married clyde moyer in 1925 and had gilbert, john, doris, carl, lona and stuart (last two in washington state). they left alaska permanently in 1933 when gilbert contracted tuberculosis, travelling for three weeks by dogsled to nome, then boarding the uss boxer to seattle. they settled here after he was treated for several years at children's hospital in seattle. grandfather clyde moyer was originally from new york and worked for the government, building schools in point hope, point lay, deering and nome. any help would be appreciated.
