Hi,
Did you know that Dairden, Darden, and any other variation was changed to Durden when people immigrated to America? I found a Lady-----Darden coming to America in about 1642, or so, along with a male Darden. I also found that the name Dairden, or Darden goes back about 2200 B.C. in the Bible. The name was one of the warring tribes mentioned. Quite a long lineage, isn't it!!!
My grgrfather was Greenie Durden from N. FL, or S. GA. He was 1/2 Cherokee Indian, and we have heard that there is also Black heritage in the family. Please don't think that is a problem. It isn't. I'd just really like to find more info in that direction. I understand the man (or one of the men) was very light skinned and very well educated. I believe he lived someplace in the Carolinas.
Do you have any information about any of this. I do know that brothers and other family members of my grgrfather's moved to other states in the South.
