Thank you I was actually looking for the city, guess it was spelled wrong is it in Mobile Co Al. My gggggrandfather Eli Crockett suposedly died there while he was living in Rankin Co Ms. He was visiting relatives. Know to find his grave maybe. He died in the late 1820's to early 1830's. Thanks for the info. Would that have been Mobile or close prox. in that time period. Don't know anything about Ms as i live in Tx.

Could it be Wetumpka in Elmore Co?

Try this site for those hard to find place names: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_f...

There is a Wetumpka in Elmore per this site. Checking for cemeteries in Elmore Co, you'll find there is no listing for 'Old Carolina Cemetery' - so the name may have changed or it is in another county.

Note that there are links to various maps from the GNIS site.

You can also find this locale at http://www.livgenmi.com/1895 - check the listing of towns 'W'. There are neat maps at this site, too.

Happy Hunting!

This cemetary does exist. It is in extreme northern Elmore county, north of Wetumpka. The cemetary started as the cemetary for Carolina Presbyterian Church, founded in 1830s-1840s by Scottish descent sttlers from North Carolina. The church is no longer Presbyterian but is now Trinity Methodist and is still active. The Cemetary retained the name of Carolina. It is still active and maintained and is located off of Little Weoka Creek Road on what is known locally as the 'county line dirt road' or Bethlehem Rd.

Wetumpka is located in Elmore County, slightly northeast of Montgomery, AL. If you locate Highway 231 that runs from the Alabama/Florida line through Montgomery, and on into Wetumpka. I am not familier with that cemetary but will see what I can find out. I do not live in Wetumpka, but in Tallassee which is very close, and I work in Montgomery so I may can find someone who knows where that is located.
