Desperately seeking grave/burial location for John T. BROWN b 11 Nov 1848 Ga, d 1944? Al (Poll Tax card in Houston Co Al Court Hse said "died Feb 1944")
John T, "Fancy John" or "Judge" BROWN served in the CSA in "Marianna Dragoons" part of the 5 th Fla Cav., Co. E or I, out of Jackson Co FL (Marianna area). This is right on the Fl-AL border SE corner.
John T. BROWN lived in Gordon, Henry/Houston Co Al 1860-1930's, with wife Susan Alice JONES BROWN & fam. He was a merchant, a J.P./Civil Ct. Judge, Coroner, Constable & Jailer there.
John later moved to the Pine Hill, Wilcox Co AL area late 1930's after his wife died 1932. He may have lived with his son, John A, BROWN (1888 Fl- 1960's Selma ?) or his grand daughter Mary Alice BROWN (marr name unknown). His last letter was post-marked "Pine Hill".
Desperately need grave /burial location, death date, obit, news articles, CSA vet list, rural Pine Hill Cems, info Pine Hill Residents 1930's-40's, just any info, clues, suggestions that might help find him. My Mother is 93 yrs old & still sharp as a hound's tooth, and wants to learn where her Grand father is buried while she is still with us. Any suggestions, Vols???
