Hi, I'm wondering if you ever worked all this out? I'm thinking perhaps there are two men. One is William Major and the other William L. I have information that William (or "W.L.") was married first to Mattie Rose. I don't know the year but they had three children. W.L. Loper Jr. was born April 15, 1895 and died Jan. 25, 1898. Burtie Lee (I think that is short for Roberta) was born June 14, 1897 and died January 3, 1929 and Edna was born April 13, 1899. I don't have her date of death. Mattie Rose died June 3, 1901. W.L. remarried a woman named Callie who was born in 1889. They listed Roberta and Edna as their children on the 1910 census. But Callie was only nine years older than "Roberta" so we know she was a step mother. That census had the same ages for the daughters that I have. The only problem is that census has William's middle initial as "A" which is contrary to other census and my records (from my mother I think she got it from from an old family bible). The other strange thing is that I have the exact same date of death for W. L. Loper as you have for Major. Either William lead a double life or there are two men involved here. I wonder if you have any information on Mattie Rose who would be my 3G grandmother.
