I am researching the John S. James who married Elizabeth E.Woodall on 10-28-47 In Sumpter Co, Al. They had three children, William R, Mary J. and Little (also spelled Lytle). Elizabeth died probably 1854 and John S. married Rebecca Morrison Brown of Choctaw Co. They had five children, Charles, Eliza (Ellen Elizabeth), Kisiah, Nancy Emma, and John S. Mr James died while in the CSA in Mobile, Al of measles and pneumonia on May 27, 1862.

Their son Lytle E. James married Eliza McCann on 12-31-1865. Eliza McCann James died after child-birth in 1886. Lytle E James died in 1937. Would love to hear from anyone working on these families.
