Thank you for the cemetery information! I'd love to know if there are any pictures of the headstones.

Daniel Nelson's will, 1848, lists administrator Thomas W Nelson. The will lists "my beloved wife Joanna Nelson, my son Thomas Nelson, Ghatsey Smith, Hardy Nelson, Mary Wallace, Andrew J Nelson, Elizabeth Nelson, and Martha E J Wilson."

Thomas W Nelson,

Hardy S Nelson,

Mary Nelson Wallace, wife of Daniel C Wallace,

Andrew J Nelson,

Ghatsey Nelson Smith (I think she married a Jacob Smith in Autauga in 1841, but I haven't found anything else about them yet)

and Elizabeth Nelson, wife of George Floyd are all children of Daniel who were alive when he wrote his will.

Martha Wilson is the only grandchild listed, and is given her mother's portion if the estate.

Thanks for your help with the headstones!

Joseph W Harris, b. 1839 Georgia, m. Martha Wilson, b. 1840 Shelby Alabama

I am looking for the parents of Martha Wilson, b. July 15, 1840, d. Nov 19, 1881. She is listed in the will of Daniel Nelson, Autauga Alabama along with his children. She is listed in the later estate papers as Martha Harris, wife of Joseph W Harris of Shelby county.

A short bio of Joseph says she was the daughter of Henry Wilson of Columbiana. I found a probate record for Henry H Wilson in the Shelby Historical Society Will Book, p. 40-42; 233-234. Does anyone have access to that book? I would love to know who her guardian was and if she is listed by name.

I found a marriage record for Henry H Wilson and Jane Nelson, 11 Aug 1839 in Autauga county. I have not found Jane listed in any of the family trees of Daniel Nelson. There is, however, one daughter who is marked in the census who has not been identified.

I am presuming that Jane Nelson Wilson (wife of Henry H Wilson) is the daughter of Daniel Nelson and that she died before the will was written so that her share of the estate was left to her daughter, Daniel's granddaughter. Martha Wilson was the only one listed in the earlier will who was not a direct child of Daniel Nelson. The further designation on the will was appointing someone to manage that portion that "Falls to Martha E J Wilson until she arrives to the age of 18 years or marrys."

Does anyone have any information about this family?

I believe Daniel Nelson is probably my husband's gggg grandfather.

I have a Civil War family photo album. There are at least 15 people in it, but the only two named are Frank Cummings and Eva Wood. I hope to find someone with both these names in their tree and possibly ID the other folks. I would like to get this album to a family member.

Saw your post -- I live in the area. My friend in the 1990's is the daughter of Sherwood Stamps, and the family resided in the home then, and Sherwood and his spouse still reside there. I've been in the home, and it is very well preserved. I understand that there were slave houses behind the main house, but have not been back to see. I believe there are also burial plots on the property. It is a beautiful piece of land. It is within a stone's trow from The American Village, a new park celebrating American heritage back to the revolutionary war. Worth visiting.

I currently live in Chelsea.

In some of my research I've found references to a place called "Jug Town". They apparently made a lot of pottery there?? Anyone have any idea where this is??

George M and Benjamin Franklin are sons of Pheobe and Smith Randall. Ben F is my great-great grandfather. He did the 1850 census of Shelby co. All my docs came from the old Shelby Co courthouse and census records. Smith is in a chapter of Dr. Donald Dodd's book: "History of a Hill County..Winston County" I had him as a professor at Auburn in the 80's.
Neal

My grandmother was Nannie Randall Johnson daughter of John Bell Randall and Minnie Nelson Randall. I would appreciate any information about my great-grandparents or other Randall/Hunt/Nelson relatives. I only just uncovered my great-grandparents names recently after my mother's death in an old baby book that was my aunts.
