I have been researching this name for several years, to no avail. I do know this: Asenath was born 1773 in Pendleton, SC. In 1800 she married Michael Pruitt, 1770-1833

She moved to Benton, AL and showed up on the 1840 census. In 1850, she was on the census for Randolph County, AL with her daughter, Armintha.

Many of the family trees show her maiden name as Hale, probably because one of her son's middle name was Hale. I cannot find any evidence that Hale was her maiden name. It was the custom in many Southern families for sons to use their mother's maiden name as their middle name, but this wasn't always the case. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. KerryG472
