Her father was Malachi Reeves "Mal" Taylor * (1846-1923) who married Mary Beatrice Chewning (1859-1938). Mary was a daughter of William Yancy Chewning (1829-1862) who married Martha Mickle.

Olene and Samuel had a son Frank Abernathy born in 1910. On January 19, 1914 they had another son (John Robert Abernathy), born in Randolph Co. AL, who died when he was two years old. In 1920 they lived at LaGrange in Troup Co. GA (and he is listed in the census as "S. J. Abernathy" and she as “Olan“).

Samuel Franklin Davis Abernathy (1882-1951) was a son of William Franklin Abernathy (1838-1929) who married Laura Awilda Milford (1843-1928) in 1861 at the home of the bride's father in Chambers Co. AL. (Another researcher has his name as Samuel Frankford Abernathy.) William Franklin Abernathy (1838-1929), a Civil War veteran, was a son of John Davis Abernathy, Sr. (1820-1854) and Margaret Priscilla Baker (1814-1853). William's grandfather was Samuel Abernathy who married Jane (Jennet) Boyd in 1820 in Newberry Co. SC. Jane was a daughter of Robert Boyd who died in Meriwether Co. GA in 1846. Samuel's mother was Rhoda Davis who married John Abernathy in 1775 in Newberry Co. SC.

Samuel Franklin Davis Abernathy died October 27, 1951. Where was he buried? His daughter Mary Wever Abernathy Powers died June 29, 1975 at Dacatur (Morgan Co.), AL and was buried at Cedarwood Cemetery (Section B) in Randolph Co. AL (according to Dorothy's data). What ever became of Frank Abernathy (b 1910)? Whom did he marry?
