My g-grandmother was listed as a house servant to William Adams in the 1880 census for Mitchells, Pike Co., AL. The top of the census sheet says "Indian Branch," but I can't find any information about what this means.

I was told all my life that she was an Indian, but here she is listed as "white." Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
