I visited Pike County,Alabama several years ago to do some research on the Cotton Family. I am looking for the burial place of Jesse J. Cotton and Rebecca Grissette Cotton. If you have any leads that could help, I would appreciate it. I understand that Jesse J. Cotton's Father was Young Cotton but could not find gravesites. Young Cotton owned 40 acres of land in Spring Hill, Alabama which is in Pike County. I feel that the family may be buried on this land. Jesse J. Cotton fought in the Civil War for the 37th Alabama Infantry and Rebecca was a widow and living in Spring Hill, Alabama in 1900 but I can find no record of her after that date. Would appreciate any information that you have on this family.

Sorry I haven't checked the boards in a long time and have even forgotten why I posted this, but it could be to see if these families were related to the Cottons of Dale Co. Al. or the ones in Barbour Co. Al.

What is the middle name of Wm J. Cotton ? There is a Wm Jasper Cotton that was in Covington & Dale Co. and was from Ga.

There are alot of Cottons but most of them seemed to have been in Ga. before they came to Al.

I do remember from my research seeing Young Cotton, I think in Ga, but can't remember where.

My mother, whose grandfather was Jesse Day Cotton, still resides in Brundidge, AL.

Do you know where Rebecca is buried? I traveled from Texas to Pike Co, Ala. about 4 years ago and searched the cemeteries around Springhill, Ala. looking for her grave. I understand that Rebecca was left a widow after the Civil War and was still living in 1900 in Springhill. (According to the Pike Co, Ala. 1900 census)
