Surnames: ASHFORD, CHAPPELL, STEWART, MARLER, CONNOR, EADES
The land patented by William CONNOR:

SWSW S20-T19S-R14W (40.14 acs) - 01 Oct 1835
SENE S19-T19S-R14W (40.37 acs) - 20 Sep 1837

...undoubtedly belongs to a different William CONNOR than yours, although he also appears on the 1850 US census of Pickens County (p 18b).

This William CONNOR (b. c1805 SC) md. Martha W. ASHFORD, d/o Michael ASHFORD & Mary CHAPPELL, 27 Dec 1829. Their children as of 1850 were: John, Mary, Frances, Malinda, Elizabeth, Martha, Permelia, William and Virginia CONNOR.

The online govt. land records *http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/* show that William CONNOR's "neighbors" in Sec. 19 and 20 included Robert W. CHAPPELL and Andrew H. EADES. I believe Robert was an uncle to William's wife and Andrew Eades was a brother-in-law, having md. Elizabeth M. ASHFORD, 25 Dec 1832 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL.

Another sister, Delilah S. ASHFORD, md. Francis A. CONNOR 04 Mar 1835; however, I have not been able to locate that family on the census.

Many of these families later moved to MS (Tishomingo and Itawamba cos.) and TX (Washington and Smith cos.).

I am not a CONNOR descendant but would love to find out more about these ASHFORD-related families. Thanks!
