I have been reading your postings with great interest. You and my husband have ancestors in common: James Andrew
McCLURKIN and Mary Margaret
KIRKPATRICK. Their son, James (who married a woman named Amanda) died very young (one source says at the
Battle of Vicksburg, though I have yet to find the evidence of that). James and Amanda had 2 sons that didn't get along: John, who never married; and James Edward, who became a
Baptist preacher in
Texas and married Lucy Bell O'GWYNN. Rev. McCLURKIN is my husband's gg-grandfather (I have attatched a copy of the only photo I have of Rev. James Edward
McCLURKIN). We learned about Rev. McCLURKIN's family tree last summer when a very old typewritten family tree was found folded this preacher's
Bible. It doesn't say much about your line of the family, but you are welcome to a copy of it nonetheless. You seem to know a great deal more about the McCLURKINs and KIRKPATRICKs than I have been able to uncover in the past year. Would you care to swap information on these families? I am particularly interested in copies of birth/death/marriage certificates and photographs, but anything would be helpful. Thanks for ANY assistance you can give. It is greatly appreciated.
