WILLIAM JAMES EDWARDS--"who" were his parents? He was born 19 Oct 1829 in Montgomery County, Alabama, and he is my paternal great-grandfather. By word of mouth, his mother's name was ELLA WILSON EDWARDS, but no one living seems to have any idea of his father's given name or of any of his siblings.

WILLIAM JAMES EDWARDS married HARRIETT ADELINE THOMPSON in Autauga County, Alabama, 28 Mar 1853, and had nine children--it is thought that a measles epidemic caused the early deaths of some:

HELEN W. EDWARDS (b. 5 Nov 1865)
ALICE REBECCA EDWARDS (b. 25 Jan 1867)
HARRIETT EUGENIA EDWARDS (b. 22 Aug 1868)
GEORGE MARION EDWARDS (b. 24 Jul 1870)

If any one out there has heard one of these names mentioned by an older relative and recognizes a name you think may have been your great-grandmother, g-grandfather, g-aunt, g-uncle, etc.--one of your distant ancestors that would fit into this time frame according to their dates of birth taken from an old family bible, please send me an e-mail. The name "William James Edwards" is a very common name, however, this particular one born in Montgomery County in 1829 seems to be quite illusive now.
