Seeking any info on Sarah Narciss Williams born 8-25-1862 in Alabama(exact location unknown) and died 7-20-1931 in Uriah, Monroe County, Alabama. This is my Greatgrandmother, and we have not been able to find any documentation on her before 1900. She was of Indian Heritage, Creek,and possibly Choctaw as well. Any clues will be appreciated. In 1880 there was the following family living in McKinley's - Monroe County, AL

Family # 287 - black

Washington Williams - 60-m-NC- head- farmer
Tamaran " - 48-f-NC- wife- keeping house
Rosiline " - 22-f-AL- dau.-
Jefferson " - 20-m-AL- son - laborer
Caroline " - 18-f-AL- dau.-
Minerva " - 16-f-AL- dau.-

The Native Americans were usually listed in the census records as black or mulatto. Ages listed were rarely accurate, so my guess is that this Minerva may have been your Narcissa ?

Thanks Bill. I will definitely research this family, and see if there is a connection. The information on Family Search is not correct-Sarah is buried at Semirah Springs Cemetery, not Poplar Springs. I am grateful for your help.
