Greta Shepherd, I would like to join your family site.

I am connected to the Henry Hendrix family. Nancy(Annie) Elizabeth Hendrix married Marcus Jacob Corley. Marcus and Annie's son Samuel (Shadrick) Jacob Corley married Lucy Anne Roberts. Lucy's parents were Daniel Marcus and Kitty Newberry Roberts. The Roberts' were from Burnt Corn and Corleys from east of Excell on Corley Creek. Shadrick died from wounds in the Battle of Mobile on the ship Selma.

I descend from Daniel and Kitty Newberry Roberts/ James Jeremiah and Sarah Jane Daniel Roberts/ Wiley Cater and Annie Vernita Shreve( her mother was Annie Elizabeth Corley) Roberts/ Wiley Thomas and Leona Grace Edgerly Roberts/ Merle Dean and Susan Schutz Roberts.

The Roberts clan moved to Pensacola after the civil war and then some of the children went back to Monroe Co and the rest went to Mexia and Limestone Co TX. The Corelys moved on to the Limestone Co TX area also.

Daniel Marcus and Kitty Roberts and some of their children are buried in the Roberts/ Nobles cemetery on Gull Point at Pensacola, FL.

I wish to fill in the Hendrix part of my genealogy as I have some but could use more.

Merle:

The instant I sent the previous post, I realized I had my wires crossed. My David Hendrix, son of Henry, was a brother of your Nancy (Annie) Elizabeth Hendrix who married Marcus Jacob Corley. Thanks for emailing me.

Hi, I was hoping perhaps you could help me. I was trying to find out more about my fathers family. He was born and raised in Monroeville,Al and was the youngest of several siblings. All I know about the Hendrix side of me is that, his name, and that I have a half brother and sister that I've never met. My fathers name was/is G. Wayne Hendrix. He'd be in his late fifties, perhaps even early sixties. He and my mother married in 1974 and I was born in 1975 in Dothan, Al. Shortly after I was born he bolted for reasons unknown to me. So, thats pretty much all I know about him.

I'm really not interested in reconnecting with Wyane. I wouldn't want to intrude on anyone. I would just really like to know where I come from, who I am, basic family history. It would really mean alot if you could help me. If you know who I'm talking about, please feel free to email me. jch3255@aol.com

Thank You!!!

Have you posed your questions to the Hendrix site? I am not related but my g-g grandfather married a Hendrix who died after one child. I am from the subsequent marriage. I am familiar with the Hendrix site but am not able to invite you to join. I do have a connection and will contact for you, if you desire.
From land records, we know that Peter Hendrix owned the northeastern portion of the present city of Monroeville. He sold the land where the 1st Baptist Church was constructed and, today, that property is a cemetery across the street from the present 1st Baptist Church. Peter Hendrix bought the NE1/4 (160 acres) of Section 25, Township 7N, Range 7E on May 05, 1819. He purchased additional lands, including the church property, at a later time but before 1832.
