My research on the Reid family in Marion County AL stops with ELI REID, born in South Carolina in 1799.

Do you know anything about his parents?

Two sources have led me to this:

His father was ANDREW REID.

His grandfather was SAMUEL REID, revolutionary soldier.

At this point, the sources have conflicting ideas.

One points to SAMUEL REID who died in St. Clair Co. AL.

The other points to the SAMUEL REID who was a member of the Putnam and Greene County, GA family.

Facts support the first theory more than the second in my opinion; however, I cannot find any proof that ELI REID was the son of ANDREW REID.
