This thread is so very interesting. I stumbled upon this Harper family when searching census records of the Corrs,Pickens County area, and then Fayette.This was after I was told I might have a link to the Harpers via my G-G Grandmother.
I came away (from census info alone) that the Polk children were adopted into the Harper family? It would be the first census that Tennessee shows up on, but the name was NOT spelled correctly.In fact, I didn't even realize until I read Mary's post that the name was "Tennessee"!
