James and Ann were married in May, 1866, in Jackson Co., AL. Each had been married previously and had children, and together they had seven children. James was the father of 5 daughters by first wife, Sarah White. The only way we have of knowing first wife's name is that is what is shown on oldest daughter's death certificate. Ann's first husband was Albert McCormack. They were the parents of 4 children, I believe 3 boys and 1 girl. Together James and Ann had 2 sons and 5 daughters. My grandfather, James J Holloway, was their second child and oldest son. James J was born June 27, 1869, in Jackson County and died September 25, 1922, in Navarro County, TX.

I do not know the parents of James Holloway born about 1823. I do know he died in 1889 in either Jackson or DeKalb County AL. Ann' s parents are William M Ballard and Millie Lea (Lee). I believe Ann was born about 1835 but do not have a death date for her.

I am hoping to make contact with descendants of James and Ann Holloway and learn more of the family history than I have been able to find in the past 30 years. My direct line came to Texas as did 3 of my grandfather's older half sisters. Two of the sisters moved to Milam Co., TX with their families and the other sister and family settled more in the north Texas area, not sure exactly where.
