Anyone have information on
Doss Kennedy who was a native of Shorterville and the old
Kennedy family there? Circa 1910 he was living in Halesburg, then a boomtown, working as a clerk in the
Carter and
Miller Mercantile on Main Street. He discovered the murdered body of merchant
Woody Stanley one morning that year while opening the windows (shutters) for business. I believe he was a brother to Dr. Thomas
Kennedy who was an educator in Halesburg in the late 1800s and then a physican in 1905 when he died at his Main Street home. The school he taught was in a building known as "The
Kennedy Schoolhouse." Any info will be appreciated.
