I am researching Dendy family, of which one of my uncles (Charles Donald Dendy) married a Hamby from Etowah County. Saw your query. Have you check the Hamby web site?

My g-grandparents, Thomas and Laura Ann Edwards Hamby, lived in Alabama City, AL (Etowah County). Thomas was, we think, born in Georgia. Thomas and Laura are buried in Etowah County, in Gallant, AL, at Gallant Baptist Church. Their graves are almost against the back of the church building. One of their daughters, Drewnetta, is buried next to them. I know they had 12 children. Six boys and six girls. Three boys and three girls were blonde haired and blue eyed, and three of the boys and three of the girls were dark haired and dark eyed. My granddaddy, Richard Hamby, is listed on his mother's (Laura) death certificate as the one who notified the authorities she had passed away. I do not know much more about them. If any of these names sound familiar, I would like to hear from you. I will be glad to share what info. I do have.

Hi. I have been to a Hamby website at one time, and did not have much luck. Please give me the address for the website you are referring to.

I do not recall the last name Dendy in my Hamby research, but then again, I do not have much on my Hamby's. 8-)

Good luck with your search, and if I come across those surnames together, I will let you know.

I have a Freddie Dendy who married a Paschal Paul Brothers, that I am researching. I also have an Atha Jean Dendy who married Russell William Brothers. I believe they were sisters who married brothers. The Brothers WERE brothers; but not positive the Dendys were sisters. Does anyone have information on these lines from Etowah County and surrounding areas?

Thanks!

Oh, I forgot to say that the Dendy girls were sisters. They were my daddy's sisters.

Yes, my aunt Jean and my aunt Freddie married brothers (Brothers). Uncle Pack and his brother sang the most beautifully in the Primitive Baptist Church on Sand Mountain, Alabama. They did the shape note singing. Uncle Pack led the singin' most of the time.

Hello...I'm Dawn Edwards-Tibbett, the daughter of Thomas Pliny Hamby aka Thomas Pliny Edwards. No Dendy of whom I'm aware which means only I haven't encountered the name yet. Thomas Pliny Hamby was born Feb. 28, 1881 in Georgia. Moved to Alabama near Gadsden at about age 2, One of 12 children of Thomas Hamby and Laura Ann Edwards Hamby. Would like to hear from you to exchange information.

Nan, I have emailed you with no response, and Shannon Crabtree says you've changed your email addy. I am the granddaughter of Thomas and Laura Ann (Edwards) Hamby and the daughter of Thomas Pliny Hamby. This little tidbit has apparently (with reason!) stunned some of the relatives. I need to find all the information possible (I've looked for over 50 years for my roots, and had the wrong surname {Edwards}), so I'm also feeling stunned at the present. To my knowledge at this time I am the only surviving child of Thomas Pliny Hamby, however my mother is still alive. (She was very much younger.) Please let me hear from you.

I believe the Dendy women are children of Thomas (B 1821)Atkins and Ida Dendy. Thomas is a son of Elisha Beamond and Dela Dendy. Elisha is a son of Thomas Daniel Dendy b6-30-1828.

Thomas moved his family to Marshall Co from Tallapoosa Co around 1881. I have more information if you are interested.
