I have been searching for some info on Childers for several years. Around Deklab & Cherokee,Etowah Co's. I do not know the first name of the Mr. Childers. His wife was Martha Emeline (Banks) Mitchell,Childers from Franklin Co Tn. She was first marrid to Danial Mitchell in Winchester,Franklin Co.TN. Had four children there in TN. John,Nancy Mary Jane and Lucy Mitchell. Martha was found on an 1880 census in Dekalb Co whree all but one of her Mitchell children were married and living there. She had three new children by Childers. Eliza,William and Kate Childers. Does any of these names mean anything to either of you? If so please contact me at lindsaybnc@bellsouth.
