I am looking for information on the Coosa River Church Cemetery. Does anyone have a list of burials (names and dates) for this cemetery?

Thanks!

This was once the Coosa River Primitive Baptist Church, and is now known as Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Some people consider the two parts of the cemetery on opposite sides of the road there to be separate, though I call it all Coosa River. In any event, I'm not aware of any source that's reasonably complete except for the two-volume set of books by Linda and Tracey Blankenship, published in 1989, which cover pretty much all of Elmore County at the time. And the cemetery is still in use, containing hundreds of graves dating back quite a long time. If somebody owns the books, perhaps they'll offer a look-up for you. Or they're available at the Alabama Department of Archives and History and probably in larger libraries.

How cool! I would love to see those. Could you send those to me? I didn't even know I had ancestors at the New Hope Baptist Church, but Mack "Duffie" Gray is my gg-uncle. Thanks so much!

Gordon,

I know we've corresponded about the Gray family. But I see that you're listing Dennis too. I've got about 65 Dennis entries in my data, with about 40 or so showing a blood relationship to me (no ancestors, mostly just cousins of a sort). I also have a known Dennis connection in my Jackson family. My Great Grandfather's younger brother Andrew A. Jackson married Evie Dennis, and they are buried (with many others in various parts of my line) at New Hope Baptist Church.
