Hi All, found some info on Daniel C.J ?or I. Grimes b ca 1840, looking at the 1850 census it looks like Daniel was the s/o Stephen & Bethany, someone just informed me being Daniel had Grimes and not "" dito's it usually meant other kinship, Ann C. age 18 is listed below Daniel's name but I know she is a proven dau of Stephen & Bethany.
Does anyone have any info on Edy Rebecca Grimes b ?? ca 1824 Nc, D/o Stephen & Bethany ? Did she have a son Daniel C.J. Grimes b ca 1840,Al, out of wedlock??
Found some info on Georgia Flemming' site and it has Edy R. EVANS as mother for Daniel on the Civil War Appl.(Have not found anything on her in Jones Co., Ms.).

1860 Jones County, Mississippi, Census shows a William Evans, 25, an overseer in his employer's household; also a Smitty B. Grimes, 17, b in Alabama, also in Ellisville, in the household of Robert and Nancy W. Hopkins.



Charlotte and her two sisters, Anna Caroline, Sarah Emma, raised William Augustus.
The three sisters were considered the three spinisters.
