Your Clay County query caught my eye - I am currently working on the family of John HAYS and his wife Lydia SIMS, who supposedly lived in AL before moving to Wilson Co., TN area. John HAYS is thought to have died in AL between 1830 and 1837. Who are your HAYS interests? Lydia (SIMS) HAYS was head of the household on the 1840 Wilson Co., TN census.

I have only a little information on the Nelson family and Clay county, but it may help. My husband's step-father is George Melvin Nelson, and his family was from the area of Clay county, Alabama. His father was, Homer Henry Nelson born on 13 Nov. 1878 and married Exa Blanche Lacey in Clay county, Alabama on 22 January 1922. I know he had at least one brother. His son, Charles Nelson in Perry, Georgia did have a family chart of *his* Nelson group from what I was told years ago. Have no contact with them in recent years, but he has brother's Dan, and Jarrett also in that area.
I am researching the Lacey family also around Clay county, AL and connected to them the Mitchum and Deason families.
Good hunting! Suz

I have found out that the parents of William Charles SKIPPER (b. 1881) were William SKIPPER (b. 1840, d. 1920) and Harriett SMITH SKIPPER (b. 1839, d. 1924). William and Harriett are buried in Millerville Cemetary in Clay County, AL. The info that I have indicates the following children for them: William Charles, Robert J. (b. 1877), Emma (KING), Jettie Francis (BURKHALTER), and Susie (SMITH).

Hi Randy! Yep, you would think that as many of our people who were in and around Clay county, AL there would be some information out there! Have you found any more about your Wiliam Charles ("Charley") SKIPPER?
For the rest of you, this line is from Clay Co., AL and migrates on over into Macon Co. GA and others in that area of GA. Charles SKIPPER was married twice. To (#1) Lula Jane SMITH and (#2)Mamie Claude LACEY. These lines were also in the area of Clay Co., AL. Chidren of these lines were: Delia SKIPPER (m. Joseph Thomas LACEY); George SKIPPER (m. Nina NEWBERRY); William Ellis Skipper;Fannie Skipper; Willie Ellen Skipper; James Madison Skipper; Claude McKenzie SKIPPER (m. Barbara Nancy HOLLEY); and Rosalee SKIPPER (m. Owens COLLIER).
I am also researching the BOLAN surname of Clay Co.AL:
Randy, McKenzie name is familiar to me because my maternal line is from around Butler Co., AL where there is a town named McKenzie, and familes of that name there. I think there were also some SKIPPER people there. Might be another direction for you to go with that(?).
Come on Ya'll..some of you have to know something about these people! We have lots to share, also! Suz

The Rev. J. J. Shaddix was my great grandfather and the others appear to be his brothers. I know that Green Berry Shaddix, Jr. was a brother to John James Shaddix. I have other information if you will contact me. I can even provide a Family Tree Maker file which might help.
