Is anyone familiar with this photography studio? Does this look like "D F Anderson Bros Thomasville Ala" to you? Any help is appreciated. Hugh

Hugh,

I saw your posting about the Thomasville, AL photo of Louisa Adeline Harrison Woodard and I am very interested in both the photo and your question. I have done a lot of research on both the Harrison and Woodard families, which are my husband’s maternal line, and hope I can be of some help. I called the Thomasville Library regarding this photographer but they didn’t have any information on D. F. or D. T. Anderson, photographer. I spoke with the director of the Grove Hill Museum and although she was not familiar with this photographer, she referred me to a Thomasville man who may know more. I have emailed him and will let you know as soon as I receive a reply.

My husband’s maternal line includes Warren Fletcher Harrison, uncle to Louisa Adeline Harrison, and William Woodard, her brother-in-law. I would love to hear how you connect in the Charles Woodard family.

Sincerely,
Jackie Feldman

Hugh,
I have found D. F. Anderson was a photographer in Thomasville, AL and is listed as one in the 1910 census when he was 31 years old. I believe the "D" stood for Dove and the "F" for Fair in his name. In the earlier 1900 census he was listed as a 21 year old farm laborer on his parent's farm. Since Louisa Adeline Harrison Woodard died in 1895, I would guess that D. F. Anderson's studio copied an older photo of her. I hope this information is helpful and would love to see a copy of the photo.
Jackie
