On the Clarke County map that I have there is a "Howell" cemetery located near Coffeeville. Go north on hwy 69 out of Coffeeville. Turn right on hwy 21 and go about 3 miles. The cemetery is located on the left just off of hwy 21. The community of "Center Point" is also in this area. I do not know if they are still using this cemetery. You might try contacting one of the funeral homes in that area. If you will let me know which Howells you are interested in I will check my data base and see if I have anything on them.

I was told my GGGGgrandparents (Phillip Kuntzelman/Counselman and his wife Eva) are buried there.

The Howle's, I have been told are related to me as well. My GGG grandmother Margaret Samantha Purvis mother Effie Howle. I am also trying to find out where Phillip Counselman's father Johann is buried. I do know he isn't buried there. Are you related to the Howle's and do you know anything about the Counselman's. Also, I am searching the Roberts, Pooles, and Sheffield. The Roberts, I know stayed in Clark County. The Poole's that I am researching on lived for a while there. Some of the brothers of my Poole's lived in Clark County, while my Poole family went from there to Washington, and Choctaw County. The Sheffield's I am researching some ended up in Clark County, Wilcox County, and Marengo County.

Thanks for any information.

I rode past the entrance to the Howell Cemetery yesterday afternoon. You can't see it from the road but there is a sign at the entrance road.

Could you give me directions? Would you have any idea of who owns that land now, and if there are hunting done there. I was told that it was a possibility of the land being leased out to hunters...And also, is it close to Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery. I went to Center Point Cemetery about 10 years ago, but I can't remember exactly how to get there.

Thanks

Renee

Go north of Coffeeville about 5 miles on Hwy 69. Turn right on Co. Road 21. There will be a Bethel Baptist Church sign there. You'll see the cemetery sign after a couple of miles or so on the left. Yes, it's most likely hunting land. Everything in South Alabama is hunted. 21 will turn into a dirt road (I can't remember if it's before or after the cemetery. If you follow this dirt road (known as the Egg Road by the old people) you'll come out on Hwy 154. Centerpoint Church is to the left only a mile or so. I talked to a friend that has been to the Howell Cemetery last night, he said it's behind a gate out in the edge of a field. Kounselmans (spelled with a K), Dunagans, and Howells are buried there. There are some locals living close by that can probably tell you who owns the land and how to get access to it.
