And what you told me about Emily confirms what my great-Aunt Ada told me and why it was all so hushed up and never talked about. She told me Annie was raped by a cousin and Emily was the child of that rape. But then I wondered if John Carney was that cousin since that would bear out the Choctaw tie and the fact that Emily used the Carney name. I was at such deadends and so new to researching family history, no, I have no documents. I've just been going on family info and what scant info I could find online. And, admittedly, since I was finding no info like you just shared, I moved on to research other family lines where info was more readily available. I don't want to put you to any trouble, but if you have info without having to do more research, I'd appreciate it. Now, let me make sure I have this correct. We share Christopher Winlock as a common ancestor but just descend from his differing wives, right?
