• "Dr. Samuel Almon and Samuel O. Rogers of Gilberttown, Choctaw county, were visitors in Mobile yesterday and called upon John T. Cochrane, president of the Tombigbee Valley railroad company, in conjunction with whom they founded Gilberttown. ...
"Gilberttown is named in honor of Judge Gilbert Cochrane, father of John T. Cochrane, and vice president of the Tombigbee Valley railroad company.
