I'm looking for information about a Cherokee ancestor of mine. Her name was Sarah Martha Black married to John Puckett. They had several children, Sarah, Scott, Olive, William, Grant, and Frances. I'm decended from Frances. She was married to Daniel Max (Mac) Jackson. I've found no information on her as yet. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks.

My Gradnfather Martin Puckett of Morehead, ky, always spoke of his uncle Grant Puckett that moved to alabama in the late 1800's

Have an ancestor John Puckett, parent of Matilda Puckett who married William Puckett, both born in 1804. Any connection?

I do not have any other info re my former mother-in-law,
Ruby J.( Puckett) Garner's parents other then their names.
Her father was Sylvanus Puckett, of whom I have not had
much success in getting any info. Sylvanus Puckett -m-
Mary Isabel Frederick. Mary's parents were: William
Benjamin Franklin and Eliza Colistol Jane (Pond) Frederick.
Sylvanus and Mary may have married in Texas ?
Mary may have been born in 1880.
Their children that I know of are : June (Puckett) Baker,
Amandalee (Puckett) South, in Oklahoma , Pauline (Puckett)
Zontos in San Jose, CA., and Shelia (Puckett) Brown in Texas.
I knew Ruby's sister's June, Amandalee, and Pauline.
These sisters were also listed in Ruby J. (Puckett) Garner's
obituary notice, as still living in 1976.

Thank you, Lois. None of the names are familiar. We find there are many Pucketts out there. My family still say that our Pucketts are of the Cherokee Nation, so I keep searching. Good luck in your search.

My gggrandmother was Mary Ellen(?)Puckett she married John Henry McCubbin. I have a picture of them with ten children. Her daughter Mathie had three daughters, Ina Mae, Mary and Leona, who married Robert Puckett, my grandfather. My Aunt Mary, 86 years old, told me that Mary Puckett had Indian heritage, but didn't know the Nation. I'm still looking. These people live in the Larue Co. Ky area.

I have a great grandmother named Mary Ellen Lockhart who married James Robert Puckett. They had ten children:one died at birth, Bessie Florence, Hazel May, Gladys Euldine, Mary Magdalen, Onie Catherine, Manny P., James Beverly, John Henry & William R.
From Mary Ellens side they come from Cherokee descent.
My great grandfather James Robert Pucket was shot in his home around 1923, my grandmother is Hazel May Puckett (Strouth)

My gr grandfather, Wm Samuel Puckett, was b 08-27-1851 in Coweta Co. GA. I have his old Family Bible which states that he had a brother, John A. Puckett, b 08-28-1848. They lived in the White Oak Community of Coweta Co. Some in this family moved on over the Cherokee Co. AL after the father, Andrew Jackson Puckett d in the CW 1865. The mother was Frances Roberts b 1816 GA & I have no other info on her except that she lived to be 92 yrs old. Other siblings were (looks like) I. A. Puckett b 1847, James Tillero Puckett b 1853, G. W. Puckett b 1855, Joseph R. Puckett b 1859, Milly A. Puckett b 1859, A. P. Puckett b 1860. Other names mentioned, but I don't know if they were siblings, were Elizabeth & Mittie. Also written on another page is White Oak, GA & Tecumseh, AL.

My gr grandfather marr Malinda Lucy Barber of Meriwether Co. GA (dtr of Wm & Mary (Walton) Barber) & they moved to Columbia Co, AR in 1888 & lived the rest of their lives in Buckner & Magnolia. Wm Sam added an extra "e" onto the name for unknown reasons. James Tillero Puckett marr Eliza Clementine Duke & moved to Cherokee Co. AL then to Camp Co. TX. Don't know about the others. I have never been able to find any Indian blood in this line but also can't find Frances (maybe Mary Frances E.) Roberts parents or place of origin.
