You are refering to Weiss Lake and the area that was flooded in the 1960s when Weiss Dam was built. To get marriage information, you would need to go to the Cherokee County Courthouse. I have a list of all the marriages up to 1930, but not for 1933.

My anestors lived in Cherokee Co., Alabama in the mid to late 1800s in the area which was flooded by the big lake (can't name it) I'm interested in any information or connections to anyone related to this family.

Also, my mother was married in Centre Alabama in 1933, I believe, where do I go for this information?

John I dont know what happened to the message I sent about having copies of the indexes you have. Could you see if you have a Joe McDowell marriage license probably for 1840-1860.
I need the name of his wife which would be my great-great grandparents.
