I'm looking for the parents of these two. John C. Caldwell was born in North Carolina in about 1800-1801. Elizabeth Black was born in South Carolina about the same time. They were married in 1825 in Greenville, Butler County. He died between the censuses in 1870 and 1880. She died sometime after the 1870 census.
They had 6 children: Elizabeth C., John, Mary, William, Flora Ida or Flora J. and Henry Martin Caldwell. All were born in Greenville between 1827 and 1836. Henry Martin Caldwell attended the University of Pennsylvania and is listed variously as a druggist and a doctor. He moved to Birmingham, where he was a very successful business man, with great influence.
So, where did they come from?
