HI, I have these notes under Josiah L. Franklin. May be of
some help. Freda

we've got 25+ years worth of research by direct descendants of Mark Franklin and have found NO documentation extant proving any relationship at all between Mark (Martin) Franklin and Josiah L Franklin. At this point, the two men MAY be related in some way, but the exact relationship, IF ANY, is not known. Lisa Franklin

It is possible that Josiah L. Franklin was the son of Richard Franklin I, although this has yet to be confirmed.
A Josiah (nmi) Franklin is listed in the 1830 Butler census.  There are 5 people in the household.  This most likely is Josiah L.
In 1840, a Josiah A. is shown living in Conecuh County.  It is possible that this is Josiah L. as he was living in Covington County in 1850.  Josiah is listed as a farmer with his wife and 4 daughter living with him.
In the 1860 Covington census Josiah is shown in the Andalusia district.  Again, he is listed as a farmer.  At this time, he is living alone.  His wife died in 1853. Butler County web page

Vic's Land records shows Josiah ownded the
whole South East Quarter of section 11, Range 15E, Ts.8N. obtained 1875. This is a place the present map shows no
roadways. about a mile North east of Pigeon Creek
