Looking for any information on a family called St Clair.Mary married Cornelius Ahern and Elizabeth and Martin never married They definately lived Devonshire Street West in the 1910-1947 period. They possibly lived in Brown Street in the 1870 with parents names William and Mary Malone. Both William and his son Martin were house painters.

I found 2 baptism records on www.familysearch.org

Eliza Jane St. Clair 11 December 1864, Cork, Cork, Ireland
Mary Teresa St. Clair 26 February 1866, Cork, Cork, Ireland
Parents: William St. Clair and Mary Ann Malone.

I, also, am looking for a St. Clair family from Co. Cork, Ireland. I believe the husband's name was Martin St. Clair and his wife was Ellen. Ellen is recorded on the 1881 Surrey, England Census, Widow, 50, born Co. Cork, living with her married daughter Mary Jane (St. Clair) Mahoney.

I wonder if these 2 families are related? Especially since you have William's father as "Martin".

Look forward hearing from you.

I made an error... the Mother, Ellen St. Clair, is not a Widow on the 1881 Surrey, England Census.. she is recorded as Married. On the same census, her grson is named Martin St. Clair Mahoney - so the name Martin definitely runs in this family line as well.

Hi, here is some more info for you.Martin St Clair and Ellen Hennessy had a daughter Mary Jane Baptised 11/5/1856 in St Peters and Pauls in Cork City. I have confirmed this info and it is correct. My branch of the St Clair family lives in Brown St in Cork City and they may have been related. I know for definate that William St Clair was born in Dublin circa 1844 and if you have any info on Martin's birthplace maybe it would confirm a relation. I have managed to confirm all my side of the tree so I will be moving on to other members. Regards

Hi Sean,

I'm just getting started on this line but will definitely let you know what I find. May I ask where you found Mary Jane's baptism?

There is a Martin St. Clair, age 50, on the 1881 British Census which may be the husband of Ellen. There is also a death record so I'm hoping it says more than "born in Ireland".

You've been very helpful... thank you so much.

Sean,

That would be great. You can send the scan to solfert@gmail.com I tried to find the Churches of Cork website but didn't find a church that said St. Peters & Paul so I must be missing something in my search. Would you mind sending me their site as well?

Thanks so much.
