My husband and I are the Bibb County Representatives for the Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance. We would love to have a group of people who could come together to have a clean up day for the neglected cemeteries such as Avery.

Avery is a very old cemetery and is in need of a lot of care. I could research who owns the land now and approach them about having a cleanup day if I could get some people interested in helping.

We have friends who we meet to go to different cemeteries quite often. If anyone would like to go to a certain cemetery and would like for us to help them find it please let us know.

Besides being involved with the ACPA, we would like to form a nonprofit organization that will take donations and fund the perpetual care of our Bibb County graves. Getting together "like minds" is always a good thing. If anyone is interested in joining an effort such as this please let me know. I do research for people at the courthouse, library and cemeteries. Instead of billing people, I calculate what my expenses are such as copies, research time, etc. and I ask for a donation. I have been saving this money in order to form a group that would actively take care of our cemeteries.

Please let me know if I can help in any way. I am always up to going hiking in search of cemeteries.
