Seeking documentation for the following marriages which ocurred somewhere in Alabama: Harry Toulmin to Martha Dobson Nov 1812; Hannah Toulmin to James Wilkinson abt 1808.
Here is what is known about the family:

Harry Toulmin (Honorable), born 7 Apr 1766 in Taunton, Somersetshire, England; died 11 Dec 1823 in , Washington, AL. He married (1) on 11 Sep 1787 in Totnes, Devonshire, England, Ann Tremlett, born abt. 1768 in , England, daughter of Laurence Tremlett and Anne Bryant. He married (2) on 21 Nov 1812, Martha Dobson.

!BOOKS AND PUBLICATIONS: 'Gov Garrard of KY, his descendants and relatives',
published by James M. Byrnes, Lexington, KY, 1898. Secretary of State of KY
during both terms of Gov. Garrard's incumbency. The Toulmin family was of
French descent, and had lived in England before coming to America.
'Clay County, History & Families', After living in KY went to Mobile, Alabama, where he was Supreme Court Judge.
'Garrard Family', by James E. Welch, 'Clay Co Ancestral News, Feb 1989. In 1794 Harry was elected President of Transylvania University in Lexington, KY.
'Dictionary of Alabama Biography', by Thomas McAdory Owen, '...Minister,
Lawyer, Judge, member of the constitutional convention of 1819...was a
dissenting minister at Chorobert, Lancashire, until 1793, when he came to this country, accompanied by Dr. Joseph Priestly, landed at Norfolk, VA...He
established a seminary at Norfolkand the following year removed to Lexington,
KY...He studied law, attained eminence at the KY bar, and in 1804, Was
appointed by President Jefferson judge of the superior court of the Mississippi Territory...'

1820 Census index, Baldwin Co, AL, H. Toulmin. Index did not give census page. Need census. There is also a Harry Toulmin listed in Cherokee Co, AL.


!OCCUPATION: ALGenWeb archives, 1819 Constitution. This document shows that Harry Toulmin was the Baldwin Co, Alabama represntitive at the constitutional convention in Huntsville on 5 July 1819. They wrote the Alabama constitution.


!DEATH: Will 16 Feb 1828, pg 7-15, Washington Co, AL. Need to get a copy of this will.
also, 'Marriage, death & legal notices from early Alabama newspapers 1819-1893', by Gandrud, 'National Intelligencer, Washington , D.C.', 13 Dec 1823, 'Hon. Harry Toulmin, late a Judge of the US District Court for the District of Mississippi died at his residence in Washington Co, Alabama 11 Dec 1823 in his 57th year... He was born at Taunton, Somersetshire, England. His father was Dr. Joshua Toulmin. He became a dissenting minister at Chowbert, Lancastershire, came to Norfolk, VA in 1793, removed to KY, and in 1794 was appointed President of the Transylvania Seminary there.'

!CENSUS: 1840 US Census, Mobile Co, AL, page 072, Martha Toulmin. Males: 15-20, 1, 20-30, 1, Females: 15-20, 1, 40-50, 1. This is a good fit, but not sure if this is the correct Martha Toulmin.

Children of Harry TOULMIN (Honorable) and Ann TREMLETT were as follows:
Hannah Lindsey Toulmin, born 16 Mar 1793 in Chowbent, Lancashire, England. She married abt. 1808, James Biddle Wilkinson.
