Hello, Maybe you can help me. I have very little information about my g grandmother. Her name was Nora Hosford (born abt. 1901) She married Samuel Hodges and had all of her children (Horace, Cline, J.T., George Allen) in Alabama except the last one (Sadie) born in Punta Gorda, FL.
I can't find a match for either of their parents. I've found similar names like "Dora". I'm at a loss and feel like I'm going in circles. My Grandmother (Sadie) is a poor historian. She is the last child of this family still alive. I know that they lived in poverty. I have heard that Sam died in a Charlotte county prison in the 1950-60s I'm fairly certain that they are Creek. They left Alabama sometime around 1925-ish and moved to Punta Gorda, according to the only census information that I can find. Any help or insight to my family would be appreciated. I have a photo of Nora Hodges (Hosford) as well as, a photo Sam Hodges. Thank you,
Penny

Have you looked in The Hosford Genealogy by Norman Hosford and David Hosford, published in 1993?

Hi Margot, I have looked but it was a while ago, before I had an inkling of Nora's (my G-Grandma) dad's name. Now that I'm almost certain his name was George Hosford, I'm going to revisit it. Thank you for the reminder!

I'm still trying to find out where Charles Weatherford b. 1752, Lunenburg, VA, father of William "Red Eagle" Weatherford, is buried. I'm not one who believes it was at what is now Fort Benning, GA. Thank you, gmw

I believe Charles joined his family in the Bahamas. See A Conquering Spirit by Gregory A. Waselkov.
