About three months ago at a Mobile, Ala., website, there was a link to a roster of perhaps 50 or more killed at Fort Mims. Try these two; the Mobile Chamber of Commerce historic website and the Mobile Gen. Society website and look for the Mims link. Jim, Charlotte, N.C., of Kaskaskia Illini blood to 1706 Mobile.

Fort MIMs Massacre-given names of KINGs, BECKHUMs, & CURRYs.
8/6/1999 Dear Internet Reseacher, I am trying to locate information on the "Scots-Irish" parents of my ggg grd father Thomas IVERSON KING(TIK) b. 1809GA(?Burke Co)-d. 1858 Washington Parish, LA. He came to the West Florida Parishes with the BECKHAM family-m. 1830-Lucy Ann BECKHAM(b. 1813)-daughter of Captain Thomas(1770's) BECKHAM & Mary CURRY BECKHAM. Our local courthouses have burned at least once some twice-records were for the most part destroyed. Nothing except Scots-Irish was ever mentioned to my father about the subject of my search. I do have firm proof that TIK went back east to fight in the Florida Rebellion. He went back to Columbus, GA in 1836 & enlisted in Capt. DAWSON's GREENE Militia in the second Creek Indian War. Why he went all the way back to GA-is beyond me. All of the above information I can verify. Recently, I discovered information regarding the Fort MIMs massacre of 8/30/1813. I have made one trip to Alabama & Columbus, GA & found nothing except that KINGs, CURRYs, & BECKHUMs were in the fort at the time of the massacre. I also found a few IVERSONs listed in Columbus, GA & other GA counties. Thanks in advance for your time in reading this-I would appreciate any direction you could give me in this matter. My father & I donated TIK & Lucy's 1830's Appalachian Uplander Dogtrot log cabin & barn to the Mile Branch Settlement-a museum village in the Washington parish Fairgrounds located in Franklinton, LA. Stuck but still trying to link back to my European roots. Wendy KING HENDERSON trutest@hotmail.com

I have an Esther King in the family. I know nothing about her, but she was living in Alabama during the Ft. Mims uprising. I do know that the Ft. was NOT filled with whites, but Creeks, and some whites (AL Historical Society-Ft. Mims).
I know we have a gx?grandmother who died there, but I don't know if was Esther.
Please, let's keep in touch. I'll save your email address, please save mine. Info may still turn up. I have her husband's name and her dob I think--somewhere. Eventually my family MAY find the name of the Ft. Mims dead one in my Dad's papers.
Thanks possible "cuz", Elizabeth

I, too, have King in my line. My gggrandmother was Susan King. Her grandmother, Annie Louisa King, is on the Dawes Roll. I do not have information about her mother, Sofa King, and father, Chisso Harjo. However, I wonder if Sofa's parents were the same King family in the Fort Mims Massacre.

I am searching for info on a possible relative last name Slay. They were mentioned on the list of casualties at Fort Mims. He would be related to my grandfather's family.
