Hello cazlou2003,
I’m not related but found information showing that Eileen Bellhouse had married Fred Taylor, though I didn’t uncover a marriage record for the couple.
The first record in which I located this information was the death index of Fred and Eileen’s daughter, Abbie Taylor.
This record shows that Abbie was born in New Jersey on 4 January 1921, and died in Philadelphia on 23 July 1921. The record further shows that Abbie’s parents were Fred Taylor, born in Jersey, and Eileen Bellhouse, born in Ireland. You’ll notice the index also erroneously gives Abbie’s age as 6 years old when she died. The index was found at Ancestry.com:
Pennsylvania, Death Certificates, 1906-1963

Attached to the index is a copy of the original death record for Abbie Taylor. The record shows she died in the Babies Hospital, Philadelphia. The actual death record reveals why Abbie’s age is listed as 6 in the index. The person who filled out the death record placed the number 6 in the age column of the death certificate, rather than in the month’s column of the death certificate. In the month’s column of the death record, the recorder placed a 19, making you think that Abbie was 6 years and 19 months old when she died, when she was actually 6 months and 19 days old when she died. The cause of death was “Gastritis.” The informant who reported Abbie’s death was her father Fred, of Vineland, New Jersey. Vineland was also called Landis, New Jersey. The death record also shows that Abbie was buried in Green Cemetery, Woodbury, New Jersey.
I’ve attached a copy of Abbie’s death certificate to this reply.
Indications are that Eileen and Fred had not been married very long when their daughter Abbie died in 1921, as I found Eileen and her father Charles in the 1918 Philadelphia City Directory living at 214 N Vogdes St. The directory listing shows that Charles’s occupation was a chemist, and that Eileen was a nurse. The directory listing abbreviates Charles’s first name as, “Chas.”

http://tinyurl.com/ku3l7zjI also found another record for Eileen Bellhouse, showing she was a “Probationer,” in the Epworth United Methodist Church, Manoa, Philadelphia. I believe Manoa is actually part of Havertown, Penn, located about 9 miles west of the Philadelphia City Center.
This record shows that Eileen joined the church in 1918, and that her address at the time was 214 N “Vodges. The actual spelling of the street is Vogdes. :

I found a second1918 entry for Eileen Bellhouse in the Epworth United Methodist Church rolls, showing she was a member “In Full Connection.” I believe this indicates she was no longer on probation. The record above shows that as of June 9, 1918, Eileen Bellhouse was not married.
I also searched the Epworth United Methodist Church to see if Fred Taylor had joined. I found that a Fred Taylor was a member the church. But I don’t know if this Fred Taylor was the same person who would marry Eileen Bellhouse. I actually found two records for a Fred Taylor in the Epworth United Methodist Church.

The Google Map at the following link shows that N Cecil Street and N Vogdes Street in Philadelphia, are only a half mile from one another:
http://tinyurl.com/pkwwoe3I next found Fred and Eileen Taylor in the 1920 census living on a farm in Oak Road, in Landis, Cumberland County New Jersey. As noted earlier Landis had also been called Vineland City. The census taker came by their home on January 17 of that year. Fred is shown to be 35 years old, married, and employed as a chauffeur in a lumber yard. He and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. The census also shows he owned a home and that the home had a mortgage on it.
Eileen is 31 years old with no occupation. The census shows that she and her parents were born in Ireland, that she immigrated to the U.S. in 1901, and that she was a “Naturalized” American citizen:

The town Landis doesn’t exist in name anymore, but is now called Vineland City.
See the Wikipedia article at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landis_Township,_New_JerseyIf you go back to the 1921 death record for Abbie Taylor, you’ll see that the informant who reported her death was her father, Fred Taylor, of Vineland. The house on Oak Road where Fred and Eileen are enumerated in the 1920 census, may be the same house where Abbie had also lived.
For a Google Map and Street View of Oak Road, Vineland City, New Jersey, go to:
http://tinyurl.com/l3oe3spIn your post to the Ancestry.com message board you wrote that you found a record for Eileen’s father Charles Bellhouse in 1920 in Philadelphia. I suspect you found Charles in the 1920 census or perhaps in a Philadelphia directory listing. But you also noted that you didn’t know what happened to Charles or his daughter Eileen.
I uncovered Charles’s death index at Ancestry.com, showing he died in Philadelphia on 3 April 1926, at 69 years of age. His date of birth is given as 16 April 1856. His place of birth is Ireland. The index also shows that his wife’s name was Abby S. Bellhouse:

Attached to the Ancestry.com index is a copy of the original death certificate for Charles H. Bellhouse, showing that the cause of death was “Chronic Endocarditis.” Also listed is a contributing cause of death but I couldn’t make out the full cause because of the hand writing by the attending M.D., Walter C. Cheesman. Dr. Cheesman had attended to Charles’s illness between March 15, 1924 and April 3, 1924. He last saw Charles alive on the day he died, April 3.
The death certificate also shows that Charles had been employed as a chemist. At the time of death he was living at 6144 Catherine St., Philadelphia.
The name of the informant who reported the death was Fred Taylor. The place of burial is listed as Green Cemetery, Woodbury, NJ, where Abbie Taylor is buried. Charles was buried on April 7, 1926. The undertaker is listed as Oliver H. Baire. The street address for the undertaker appears to be 18 W Chester St.
Also at Ancestry.com I found Charles H. Bellhouse in a collection called, “Oliver H. Bair Funeral Records Indexes, 1920-1980.” See the index below:

The census shows that Fred and his parents were born in Pennsylvania, and that he was employed as a superintendent at an apartment house. The census also shows that he and Eileen were both 29 years old when they married, which places their marriage year circa 1918. The census further shows that the couple owned a radio set.
Eileen’s birthplace, and the birthplace of her parents, is listed as Irish Free State. The present day Republic of Ireland was known as the Irish Free State from 1922 to 1927. See:

But the census also shows he had been out of work for the past 4 months, but had worked for 52 weeks in the year 1939. His income was $700. His birthplace is Pennsylvania.
Eileen’s birthplace is Ireland. The census shows that she was not working and that her highest grade level was the 8th grade. The census further show that she and Fred had lived in the same house in 1935:

I looked for Eileen’s naturalization record at Ancestry.com but didn’t find it. She may have become a citizen by virtue of being married to Fred Taylor, who was born in the U.S.
The 1940 census shows that Fred and Eileen Taylor were living on Coles Avenue in Chester, New Jersey. As mentioned earlier Chester is now called Maple Shade Township. To view a Google Map and Street View of Coles Avenue, Maple Shade Township, go to:
http://tinyurl.com/qyydqvkThe map shows that this street is divided between North and South Coles Avenue.
By April 27, 1942 however, Frederick Taylor and his wife were living at the Pine Manor Apartments located at 49 Pine Street, Philadelphia. This information comes from his World War II Draft Registration Card found at Ancestry.com. At the time he registered for the draft Fred’s telephone number was GRA 8039. He was also 53 years old with a date of birth of March 24, 1888. His place of birth was Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. His wife is listed as Mrs. Frederick Taylor of 49 Pine Street, Philadelphia. His place of employment was the Pine Manor Apartments, but his employer was Jacob L. Brown, of the Girard Trust Building, Philadelphia. The draft registration card doesn’t give an exact job description for Frederick at the Pine Manor Apartments.
The Registrar’s Report section of the draft registration card shows that Frederick as 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighed approximately 146 pounds, and that he had blue eyes, gray hair, and a light complexion. The card also shows that he had an appendectomy:

Contributing causes of death, and their duration were Carcinoma of femur (9 months); inflammatory carcinoma of the breast ( 2 years), and chronic myocarditis (10 years?).
I also found her burial record at Ancestry.com’s “Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Church and Town Records, 1708-1985.” This record shows Eileen Taylor was buried at Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, on 27 October 1951:

Attached to the index is a copy of the actual Philadelphia death certificate, showing that Fred died at his residence located at 129 N 20th Street, Philadelphia. His occupation was Maintenance Man at an apartment building. His cause of death, contributing causes of death, and duration of each (the ones that I could decipher), were Cardiac Decomposition, 5 days; Chronic ? , 5 months; Cancer of Pancreas, Year?; Chronic ? and Chronic Nephritis, 3 years. The “Major Findings of the Operation,” showed that Fred had gall stones and cancer of the pancreas. The date of the operation was November 12, 1951. The informant who reported the death was Eleanor Kimmerle. Her address was the same as Fred’s at 129 N 20th St.
The death certificate further shows the Oliver H. Bair Co., was the funeral home in charge of the funeral arrangements, and that Fred was buried in Westminster, Montgomery Co. PA.
Up until finding Fred Taylor’s death certificate, I didn’t know where he was born or who his parents were, though at this point in the research I wasn’t sure if his mother Effie’s maiden name was also Taylor. Effie, I believe, can be a nickname for Elizabeth, or Euphemia.

The next search involved looking for more information about Fred Taylor before the 1920 census. I looked for his 1888 birth record but didn’t find it. I looked for him in the 1900 and 1910 census enumerations but without success. In addition I looked for Fred Taylor’s World War I draft registration card, but without luck. I also looked for the marriage of his parents George and Effie Taylor, but didn’t find that either. Nor did I locate his parents in the 1900 or 1910 census returns, or their individual death records. It was as if Fred Taylor had fallen off the earth.
I had looked for more information about Fred Taylor on and off for about three days. What really stumped me was that he wasn’t in the World War I draft registration records available at Ancestry.com., though as you saw earlier he had registered for the draft in 1942, just 4 months after America was attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor on Dece, ber 7, 1941.
By the time the United States entered the war in 1917, Fred would have been 29 years old, and by law, would have been required to register for the draft.
At this point I had a suspicion that Fred Taylor’s last name was not Taylor. His death record shows his mother’s maiden name was Taylor, but didn’t give the last name of his father George. His death record as well as his World War II draft registration card both show he was born on March 24, 1888 in Harrisburg, PA. With this information I searched the World War I draft registration indexes at Ancestry.com for anyone with the first name of Fred/Frederick/Fredrick born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on March 24, 1888. I found one index that I thought may refer to him, but the index doesn’t record where he was born, except to say Pennsylvania. This index however, shows that a Fred Taylor Ehresman was born on 24 March 1888 in Pennsylvania, the same date of birth as recorded on Frederick Taylor’s 1942 draft registration card.
The index for the World War I draft registration card for Frederick Taylor Ehresman is below:

I then accessed a copy of the original draft registration record for Frederick Taylor Ehresman, which shows he was born in Harrisburg on 24 March 1888.
I’ve transcribed information found on the card below. The card has information that was surprising::

I believe the World War I draft registration card above refers to the Fred Taylor who married Eileen Bellhouse sometime between 1918 and 1920. Much of the information about Fred Taylor after this point in this reply, is based on his last name actually being Ehrisman/Ehrismann, etc., even though he is listed as Taylor in the above records. I can’t prove that he changed his name legally from Ehrisman to Taylor, as I did not find any documentation for this. Circumstantial evidence however, shows that he did change his name from his father’s last name to his mother’s maiden name Taylor. I don’t know if he did this to hide something or if he may have had a falling out with his father, and didn’t want to use the name anymore, or changed his name because of anti-German sentiment during Words War I.
But, the question I now had was, who did Frederick Taylor Ehrismann marry (that is, who was his first wife), and where and when did he marry. Also, who were his children?
I looked for Frederick’s marriage record in Pennsylvania and New Jersey but didn’t find it. I finally did locate his marriage record in Wilmington, Delaware, showing he married Jennie Tracey. I’ve transcribed the record below. Frederick’s last name in the record is spelled “Ehrisman.”A question mark (?) anywhere in the transcription below means I couldn’t read this portion of the record:

Wilmington is about 40 miles south of Philadelphia. I don’t know why the couple were married in Wilmington rather than in Philadelphia.
Frederick’s 1917 draft registration card shows at the time he registered he had two children. I found the combination birth and death record for one child at the LDS/FamilySearch website. The child’s name was Effie Elizabeth Erhisman. She would have been named after Frederick’s mother. But, Effie would have been deceased by the time Fred registered for the draft in 1917, as she was born and died in Philadelphia on April 17, 1909.

I’ll have more information about Jennie Erhismann and her children a little later in this reply. But next I wanted to see if I could find Fred or Frederick Erhisman(n) in the 1900 census to see if he was with his father George, mother Effie, and siblings.
I uncovered the Ehresman family in the 1900 census living at 1005 Paxton Street Harrisburg Ward 1, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The census shows that 12 year old Fred Ehresman, who is attending school, is living in the household with his parents, 49 year old M. George Ehresman, and 42 year old Effie. Fred’s month and year of birth are March 1888. All in the household were born in Pennsylvania except Effie, who was born in Maryland. Her parents were also born in Maryland. George’s father was born in Germany while his mother was born in Pennsylvania. The census shows that George and Effie were married in 1877. The census further shows that George and Effie had 10 children but that 9 were still alive as of 1877. Eight of these children, including Fred, are in the household.
George’s occupation is shown to be a steward in a hotel. All of the older children are employed, but I couldn’t make out the full occupations of these siblings. This is indicated by a question mark (?) where the full occupation wasn’t legible.
The middle initials of everyone in the Ehresman household except the children George and Fred, come before their first and last names in the 1900 census, as you’ll see. The indexes below are from Ancestry.com:

For Google Map and Street View of Paxton Street, Harrisburg, go to:
http://tinyurl.com/nogey26I now wanted to see if I could locate Fred and his wife Jennie in the 1910 census, to see if they had another child who was born after Effie had died in 1909.
I located Frederick and Jennie living in the household of his parents, 58 year old George M. Ehrikman/Ehrisman and his 53 year old wife “Effe,” in the 1910 census living at 5713 Chester Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 1910 census index spells their last name as Christian, with two alternate spellings for the name. These alternate names are Christain and Erhickman. I can see why the Ancestry.com indexer couldn’t properly decipher the last name, as the handwriting of the census taker was not as legible as it could have been. In the census indexes below I’ve transcribed the last name as Ehrisman.
The 1910 census shows that George is employed as a steward in a hotel, and that he and Effe had been married for 33 years. During that time period they had 10 children with 9 of the children still alive. The census shows that George was born in Pennsylvania, while his father was born in Germany and mother in Pennsylvania. Effe is shown not to be employed. She and her parents were born in Maryland.
In the household with George and Effe are five of their children. One of these children is 22 year old Frederick F., who is employed as a checker for the railroad. The census shows Frederick is married to 20 year old Jennie F., who was born in Pennsylvania, as were her parents. The census also shows that Frederick and Jennie were married for two years as of 1910. Earlier you saw that 21 year old Frederick Ehrisman and 18 year old Jennie F. Tracey were married in Newcastle, Delaware, on June 27, 1908.The 1910 census further shows that Jennie had two children born to her, with one of those children still living. That child is 15 day old Florence E., born in Pennsylvania. The other child would have been the deceased child named Effie Elizabeth.

I looked for the 1910 birth record for Florence E. Ehrisman at Ancestry.com and at the LDS/FamilySearch website, but didn’t find it.
I next wanted to see what happened to Fred’s first wife, Jennie. I looked for her in the 1920 census and found her employed as a cook at the Home For Infants, Northeast Corner Markoe And Westminister Ave., Philadelphia. She is listed as 30 year old Jennie F. Ehrisman. The Ancestry.com index also spells her last name alternatively as Chrisman. I accessed a copy of the original census and found that her last name is spelled Ehrisman. The census shows she was married and born in Pennsylvania. She is located on Line 3 of the 1920 census. On Line 24 of the same census in the Home for Infants is 2 year old Grace F. Ehrisman, born in Philadelphia. Grace is listed as an “Inmate,” which was the term used at that time for a resident of an institution. As you will see later Grace was Jennie’s daughter.

I located 40 year old Jennie and three of her children residing at 1525 62nd Street, Philadelphia. This appears to be a large apartment complex as a number of people were living at the same address. Jennie is shown to be married and employed as a dressmaker for a private family. Her husband is not in the household with her. The census shows she does not own a radio set. Her rent is $35 a month. Her oldest child is her 19 year old daughter, Esther Ehrisman, born in Pennsylvania, as were her father and mother. Esther is employed as a telegraph operator for a telegraph company. Next in the household is 18 year old Ruth Ehrisman, born in Pennsylvania. She too is employed as a telegraph operator for a telegraph company. The youngest child in the household is 17 year old Grace Ehrisman, born in Pennsylvania. She is attending school:

The question I now had was, where were Esther and Ruth Ehrisman in the 1920 census? Where they enumerated in that census or were they not counted in the 1920 census. I went back to the 1920 census and found both Ruth and Esther. The are both listed as 9 years old, born in Pennsylvania, and both living in the Friends Home For Children at 401 Aspen Street, Philadelphia. The birthplace of their father and mother is only listed as the “Unknown.” It appears that neither of their parents at the time could provide for them. The 1920 census further shows that Esther and Ruth had attended school. There are several children in the home for children which I didn’t list in the indexes below. What I did include in the indexes was information about matron of the Friends Home For Children. This is 64 year old Mary Collins born in Maryland. Also in residence is a 22 year old teacher named Ethel Collins born in Pennsylvania. I don’t know if Mary and Ethel were related. They are the only two adults I could find who were in the home for children:

http://tinyurl.com/pcn284cMoving on to the 1940 census I located 50 year old Jennie Ehrisman and her 29 year old daughter Esther living in a rent at 1337 N 60th Street, Philadelphia. In this enumeration Jennie’s marital status is listed as, “Divorced.” The census shows she was born in Pennsylvania and that she had been living at the same address since at least 1935. The census shows her highest grade completed was elementary school. Her occupation is listed as, “Companion,” and that she had worked at least 50 hours prior to being enumerated in the 1940 census. The census also shows she didn’t work in 1939, but the census shows she had other sources of income, and so I am wondering if her former husband Fred was sending her money
Concerning Esther, the 1940 census shows she was born in Pennsylvania, as were her parents, and that she was employed as a filing clerk for a telegraph company, making $700 in income. She had worked 44 hours prior to being enumerated in the census, and had worked for 52 weeks in the year 1939. Her father’s name is shown to be John Tracey, born in Philadelphia, while her mother was Margaret Holmes, also born in Philadelphia. Jennie’s spouse’s name is listed as Frederick T Ehrisman.

Below is the transcription taken from a copy of the original certificate of death for Jennie F. Ehrisman, which shows at the time of death she was a “widow.” Her “usual occupation” is listed as “Housewife.” The certificate shows she died at the Philadelphia General Hospital. The cause of death was rheumatic heart disease and a cerebral embolism. The informant to the death was Florence E. Ehrisman of 6008 Thompson Street, Philadelphia. The death certificate also shows that Jennie was buried at the Fernwood Cemetery, Deleware County, Pennsylvania. The funeral director in charge of the burial was Robert F. Frankenfield, whose full address in Philadelphia I couldn’t decipher, nor could I read the full name of the attending physician who attended Jennie before she died.

The death record above shows that Jennie’s daughter Florence was the informant to the death. Florence stated that her mother was a widow at the time she died. But, earlier you saw that Fred Taylor had died on 30 December 1951, over three years after Jennie died. In addition, the June 27, 1908 marriage record for Frederick Ehrisman and Jennie Tracey, shows that Jennie’s parents were John Tracey and Margaret Tracey. Margaret’s maiden name is not listed in the marriage record, but is listed as Holmes in Jennie’s death record. The death record shows her father was John Tracey. Indications are that Jennie would not have been a widow when she died in 1947. Perhaps Florence didn’t know if her father was alive or dead, or maybe she listed that her mother was a widow because it was as if Jennie’s husband had been dead to the family.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT GEORGE EHRISMAN AND EFFIE TAYLOR EHRISMAN
The 1900 census noted earlier shows that George and Effie Ehrisman were married in 1877, which means they should have been enumerated in the 1880 census, though I wasn’t sure if the family had been living in Harrisburg in 1880. I located 29 year old George and 22 year old “Effy” Ehrisman in the 1880 census living in Susquehanna, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The census shows that George was employed as a farmer and that he was born in Pennsylvania. His father and mother were also born in Pennsylvania. The census further shows that Effy and her parents were born in Maryland. Her occupation is keeping house. There are two children in the household with George and Effy. They are 2 year old Bessie and 7 month old Murray. Both children were born in Pennsylvania. I didn’t see these children enumerated in the 1900 census. The individual 1880 census indexes for the Ehrisman family below are from Ancestry.com:

I next located a copy of the original death certificate for George M. Ehrisman, showing that he died on March 9, 1926 of Myocarditis. Moriah Cemetery on March 15, 1926.
Anywhere in the transcription of the death certificate where you see a question mark (?), means I couldn’t decipher the word or a person’s full name:

Circumstantial evidence in this reply indicates that Frederick Taylor’s full name was Frederick Taylor Ehrisman, though I didn’t find a document showing he changed his last name from Ehrisman to Taylor. I don’t know if he changed his name legally, or if he just dropped using the name Ehrisman on his own. If he did change his name legally, the change may have occurred in Philadelphia, but I can’t be sure of that.
I also didn’t find a birth record for Frederick Taylor Ehrisman. But, if you believe that Frederick Ehrisman and Fred Taylor are one and the same person, and want to see if there is a birth record for him, you can contact the Dauphin County Register of Wills in Harrisburg to see if there is a birth record for him dated on or about March 24 1888. His parents were George Ehrisman and Effie Elizabeth Taylor. Contact information for the Dauphin County Register of Wills is below:

As mentioned a few times above, I also didn’t find a marriage record for Fred Taylor/Fred Ehrisman and Elaine Bellhouse. I don’t know if they were married in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or in another state. I also don’t know if they were even legally married, or if Fred had divorced Jennie Tracey (daughter of John Tracey and Margaret Holmes), before he married Elaine Bellhouse.
I also don’t know if Fred Taylor helped to support the children he had with Jennie Tracey, just from the records I found online.
Best Wishes,
Dave Boylan
