Hello,
I've been extra busy lately and I'm trying to get back to old e-mails to see if I missed any I needed to respond to.
My ancestor, Joseph KIDDER, of Princeton, ME (near Calais), had a nephew, Charles KIDDER, of the ME / NB border who migrated to Hawaii. But, it was the 1880's, I believe. But, during my yrs. of research, I learned about the missionaries who left New England and migrated to Hawaii. Some might have come from Boston.
I just checked the web sites found when searching "Hawaii history timeline" and it was 1820 when the New Englanders went there.
http://www.history-timelines.org.uk/american-timelines/11-ha...These missionaries have been mentioned on the Lists in past years; I don't know about the Boards. At this moment I couldn't remember some of the names to look for on-line, so I tried one search-term and found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Missionaries_to_HawaiiIf you look down that page, people left MA from 1820's to 1840's to go to the Hawaiian Islands.
I'm seeing that the missionaries were also discussed in one of the "MassMoments e-mails."
http://massmoments.org/moment.cfm?mid=306(researchers can subscribe to those "free" daily e-mails which discuss something in MA history on each day)
